I'm heading over myself in December. It must be easier for Australians to get a Visa being part of the Commonwealth - we can get a working holiday visa to work in the UK without first being sponsored in a job.

Looking at Seek there are plenty of jobs still if you have some skills and experience. Heaps for Accountants and the like by the looks of it. It would be well worth registering with agencies before you go.

They were given the house to live in, they are not working LEGALLY, however they are working ILLEGALLY, they donot pay RENT, have a MORTGAGE nor do they pay utility rates such as WATER, GAS, ELECTRICITY it's all payed for by those of us that DO pay TAXES.

So yes, I do have an issue with this.

so.. if they live in the house who is paying the rent to the landlord? cause someone has to pay it, right??

if its the goverment, then believe me they would have checked if any of the tenants are illegal workers wouldnt they?

how do you know what they pay and what they dont? and how do you know they are illegally working?

I find it hard to believe that they just told you over breakfast..
