First you got to get a game that supports trophies. Once you done that, to get the trophies you need to do the tasks to get them (i.e. for a say a racing game, you could get a trophy for winning your first race etc) this is a very very general description, hopefully not to vague? :p

Games that support trophies (that I know of include):

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

Burnout: Paradise

Ferrari Challenge

There are others, but someone else will need to fill you in. Once you run the game at least once it's trophies will appear in the trophies section of the Game menu on the XMB, it will show what trophies you have and what you haven't with descriptions on how to get them (plus there are usually a few secret ones as well marked with ???). I hope that steers you in the general direction?

so best bet is, before I play a game. log into the psn network???

Just set up your PS3 to log you in on every system boot then you don't have to worry about it. Oh and make sure the game you're playing has Trophy support. :p

LOL ok. So for arguments sake, the game Grand Theft Auto 4.

I've finished it, if I sign into the network then run the game..will it know that I've already done most of the trophies or do I have to start again?

I don't think trophy's are "retro active" so you'll have to do it all again if you want the trophy's.

(I think)

Yes, that is correct. To avoid people artificially boosting their trophy count using saved game, you will need to play the game again to get the trophies regardless of whether you clocked it or not.

you have to download a patch for each game to support trophies. i just did it last night for Burnout Paradise. there were 2 patches (idk which is which) but one was 150MB and the other was 38MB. im guessing the latter was the trophies patch. once that's downloaded and installed, you can earn trophies online OR offline. keep in mind that you cant play a game w/o downloading and installing the patches.

Don't worry. there's no need for that.

Trophies are triggered offline, and when you go to the trophies menu it tries to sync your offline trophies with the online profile.

Ah, so that is how it all works..wasn't sure :p

GTA4 has a patching coming up that will support trophies, no date announced.

CoD4, not so much.

Yeah COD4 isn't getting trophies, the developers said Sony left it too late for trophy support so they won't be adding it. So out of luck with that one.

What is the benefit of earning Trophies? I mean, what does the end user get in return?

E-Penis and I guess a sense of achievement.

Once Home is out you'll get 3D Trophies to show off in your space, and I presume items of clothing/accessories as well - That's the only reason I'll chase them. If I get something kick ass in Home for a specific trophy, I'll try get it.

    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.

Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers.
