No Draken is mistaken. If you want to play ODST Campaign and Firefight you use DVD 1. If you want to play Halo 3 MP you need to use DVD 2. It doesn't matter if they are installed or not you still need the proper disc in the drive. You shouldn't install the Halo MP disc anyway since Load times are increased when Halo 3 is installed.

 no my boy, I was not talking about installing the game to HD, DVD 2 installs "DLC" like Oblivion expansion and Fable II GOTY did, once you install DVD 2 using its own installer you still need DVD 1 to play, or the original Halo 3 DVD (Y)

Yes you can install ODST and get decreased load times but the Halo 3 MP disc still suffers from the longer load times when installed.

What munky means is that they fixed that issue with the MP disc that comes with ODST, so installing the MP disc to xbox hdd will reduce the load times, unlike halo 3.

ehhh no, he was talking about the main DVD, the campaign one, you MUST install maps from DVD 2, not install that disc to HD, o well is so simple, I don't get why nobody understands!

lol fair enough, my bad. But on my side there was nothing to fix with odst as there wouldnt have been anything wrong? I just knew halo 3 had issues and that's all xD

so much confusion :p

No, you are still mistaken. The Halo 3 MP Disc is Halo 3 without the Campaign and with all the MP Maps. You cannot install the Maps like DLC and you cannot use the original Halo 3 disc to play the newer maps (Until Bungie release the Mythic maps on the Marketplace).

If you buy ODST the only thing you need the Original Halo 3 Disc for is if you want to play Campaign. Everything else is on the MP Disc (Forge etc)

The standalone disc pretty much means that precious Xbox 360 hard drive space can be cleansed of Halo 3 maps.

http://www.n4g.com/xbox360/News-382202.aspx

The 2nd Disc is standalone and doesn't require the original Halo 3 disc to be used.

Draken I'd like to know where you got your information that the 2nd Disc is a DLC Install disc because I've never heard it being suggested or mentioned.

Dunno where you heard that, but you are mistaken. It's not a DLC install disk, everything is ON the disk and doesn't need installing.

Because I just did it!! :woot: and it's too soon here for me to be drugged .... or may be?

yeah sorry, had a "sharpie" confusion  everything is on DVD 2 (Y) (MP)

I am officially confused. For months I understood everything that Bungie released about the disc configs and how they worked. Now all of you have gone and messed that up

/shakes fist

GG on the disc confusion, Bungie.

4 Options

1: Want to play ODST Campaign or firefight? Use the 1st ODST Disc

2: Want to play Halo 3 Multiplayer with Mythic Maps? Use the 2nd ODST Disc

Install ODST Disc 1 and do not install ODST Disc 2

Well now I can say my sisters BF may have given in and obtained this by nefarious means and may think it's nothing special and still doesn't elevate it above typical-console-shooter for him (& me - but we're both big PC gamers, he likes UT1 and I loved CS/CoD2) and is one for the fans as it won't win anyone else over.

I still think it's going to get verbal *******s from the press as you'd expect. I'm sure MS would be a tad stroppy with publishers about future exclusives if they didn't. :)

Well the first review I've found isn't...

64/100 - http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2...ter.html?cat=19

Not heard of the site though.

Halo has one of 3 different effects on gamers.

1. Love, unhealthy devotion, and blind-senseless rage at outside opinions of Halo/Xbox 369.

2. Deep hatred and resentment.

3. Acceptance of what it is (a casual shooter that anyone can play and enjoy) and either a light fondness for it or slight annoyance.

I fall under the third category. I see the Halo games exactly as they are and, in turn, accept them with a slim interest.

Fantastic a review from someone who is remotely sane. Christ, I though it was just me and Brad left.

LAL @ the comments

Hey d-bag...there is NO duel wielding in the game. The next time you write a review play the ****ing game instead of jacking off to your Collectors edition of Killzone 2.

It's comments like this which will be the tipping point for me to join a terrorist organization and fly a plane in to a ODST midnight launch.

Same here. I remember asking about all this a month ago and several members explained the whole process to me. The page above me now has thrown that all out the window and I'm back to square one. :p

Right, and you don't need to install any of the discs, it's not mandatory.

the logical procedure will be to install everything to the HD using its own installer and then play with each disk inserted (either H3 or H3:ODST) but go figure why they want you to swap disks

Bungie had this cleared for the longest time. DO not install the Disk 2. It is just Halo3 multiplayer with additional maps. That game was never designed to be run from HDD and in fact faced performance problems.

Disk1 is a new game and can run from HDD without issues.

    • Now 8GB of ram looks even worse in the Neo. I'm so happy I purchased 128GB of DDR 4 when I did.... paid $174. Upgraded my parents laptop to 32GB around the same time for $48. Luckily I have a TON of spare laptops. So i'm good on laptops for a while. I also have a lot of desktops too that I could use if i had to. Lets just hope nothing happens to my main 4 monitor couch workstation.
    • I will keep my current devices for several years... no planning in upgrading until these devices stop working. Too pricey.
    • Apple raises MacBook and iPad prices as memory costs surge by Karthik Mudaliar Apple has raised the U.S. prices of several MacBook and iPad models, including the MacBook Neo, which it launched for $599 less than four months ago. The company’s cheapest laptop now starts at $699, while some MacBook Pro configurations have increased by $300. The changes affect the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. Apple has not changed the hardware or storage included with these models, so customers are simply paying more for the same configurations. Here is how the new US pricing compares with the previous starting prices: Product Previous price New price Increase MacBook Neo $599 $699 $100 13-inch MacBook Air, 512GB $1,099 $1,299 $200 14-inch MacBook Pro, 1TB $1,699 $1,999 $300 16-inch MacBook Pro $2,699 $2,999 $300 11-inch iPad Air, 128GB $599 $749 $150 13-inch iPad Air, 128GB $799 $949 $150 11-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $999 $1,199 $200 13-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $1,299 $1,499 $200 The updated prices are already appearing on Apple’s U.S. online store. The MacBook Neo increase will probably attract the most attention. Apple introduced the laptop in March for $599, pitching it as a more affordable Mac for students and buyers considering Windows laptops or Chromebooks. It uses an A18 Pro processor and originally undercut Dell’s new $699 XPS 13 by $100. Following the increase, the two laptops now have the same starting price. The M5 MacBook Air has also lost the price Apple promoted when it launched in March. The 13-inch model arrived with 512GB of storage for $1,099, while Apple’s store now lists the MacBook Air range as starting at $1,299. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip and 1TB of storage has gone from $1,699 to $1,999. Apple has made similar changes to its iPads. The recently released M4 iPad Air, which launched at the same $599 starting price as its predecessor, now starts at $749 for the 11-inch version. The 13-inch version has risen from $799 to $949. The iPad Pro increases are larger in dollar terms. Apple’s 11-inch M5 iPad Pro now starts at $1,199, up from $999, while the 13-inch version has moved from $1,299 to $1,499. Both base models still include 256GB of storage. Apple blamed the increases on the rapidly rising cost of DRAM and NAND flash, which provide system memory and device storage. The company told Reuters that it had tried to shield customers from the increases but could no longer absorb them. “We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly,” Apple said. Tim Cook had already warned that price increases were coming. Cook said Apple’s existing component inventory had softened the immediate impact, but that higher memory costs would increasingly affect the company after the June quarter. Much of the pressure comes from the construction of AI data centers. Memory manufacturers are directing more production toward high-margin server products, leaving PC, tablet, and smartphone makers competing for the remaining supply. Apple has not said whether the new prices are temporary or whether further increases are planned. For now, the changes show that even Apple’s purchasing power has not been enough to keep the AI-driven memory shortage away from consumer devices.
    • Ventoy 1.1.16 is out.
    • This is a none story - these low volume Chinese models will always get new experimental features first because Apple and Samsung can't produce them in huge volume to meet demand.
