[Official] Halo 3: ODST

Recommended Posts

It is FPS.

It is a prequel to Halo1.

It apparently has Spartans from a squad - not known to exist before the announcement teaser. This is speculation based on the Spartan number (I think 2xx) in the voiceover.

The book Fall of Reach starts with training of 150 Spartans - only half make it through the augmenting procedure. Their leader is Master Chief Petty Officer - Spartan 117 (real name John).

That's the background. That's all everyone(out of bungie anyway) knows about it for sure.

XLink kai or XBConnect ;)

So with regards to the gameplay, all we know is that it's an FPS and that it MIGHT have some kind of squad-based action? Seriously, I just want to know about the gameplay, the story behind it is secondary as far as I'm concerned, so considering that we know nothing, I really don't understand why people are obsessing over the Beta.

Because the beta will reveal the gameplay, and most people buy Halo games for the multiplayer.

The gameplay will be revealed before, during and after the Beta. Imagine if Halo Wars was never announced and a beta for that was given away with Halo 3. Imagine how people would have reacted had they found out it was an RTS by playing the beta of it - there'd be outrage.

I know Halo Reach is supposed to be an FPS, but I really want it to be more than just Halo 3 again. I don't think Halo, as a game, is particularly amazing, but I do quite like the universe and I'd love to explore than universe in a different guise. Maybe more stealth, maybe some RPG elements, I don't know, all I know is that the only thing really keeping me interested in reach is that we know nothing about it and it MIGHT be something good and original, especially considering how long it has been in development for.

Got the game today and I'm enjoying the campaign and the atmosphere so far. Only about an hour or two into it, can't wait to get more playtime in. I'm also having a blast with firefight. It's' really hard playing by yourself, but there's something addicting and satisfying about going against so many enemies. Can't wait for my buddies to pick this up on Tuesday.

Because we are using a website well known for delivering games early.

Peter, just cancel the GAME order and use Shopto. Why wait for the inevitable to happen, you know they are spotting the glitch used by everyone. You're just going to end up with the game arriving late.

People need to learn to read their emails :p

Please note that while we will shortly be charging your card the game will not be dispatched today. Your pre-order will be dispatched on Saturday in time for delivery by the Tuesday release date.
Remember everyone, everyone has their own opinions and you cannot let "bad reviews" sway you away. People did the same with Halo 3 and Gears of War 2.

Bit of a contradiction there?

Everyone is allowed to have an an opinion but if it's diffrent to yours it's wrong?

I did read my email, but I received an email and TXT message that the order was dispatched and with tracking number.

So I was just hoping they sent some ones out early.

Ditto but I'm pretty certain that's just an automated service. If they say they aren't going to post them until today (and they didn't arrive today for anyone) I think it's safe to assume they weren't posted yesterday :p

I've got a royal mail tracking code for mine - albeit signed for and not special delivery. Pretty sure that you get that only after they've been posted and can't assign a code to a package before they get sent. Probably wrong on that though :p

Still, be nice to get the game monday as I start Uni on Tuesday.

I wonder that aswell. So much for Micrsoft banning people getting the game early who are NOT reviewers. -.-.

Microsoft has said time and time again that they will NOT ban people for playing the game early. This happens all the time, some shops simply break the street date, some people "know someone who knows someone" who can get a legitimate copy for them earlier. Online stores typically dispatch them a couple of days early to make sure you have it ON release date and so on. None of those people have done anything wrong, Microsoft has said they're happy for them and that they should enjoy the game.

However, there's always that other group - the pirates. They get games early as well, however Microsoft WILL do what they can to ban them, but that goes for pirates who get the game before or after the release date. In the end, the release date doesn't matter, all that matters is if you've got a legitimate copy or not.

. In the end, the release date doesn't matter, all that matters is if you've got a legitimate copy or not.

I really just wish retail stores would think like that. Pretty sure all the stores of ODST now. They are just waiting on the date for release.

Because we like playing Halo, and we don't have to wait to play Reach if we're in the beta.

Why does anyone obsess over anything?

    • This is about the already discredited 2025 announcement. Not the current one, which I've heard nothing negative about in the academic literature.
