[Official] Halo 3: ODST

Recommended Posts

guess that answers your questions, mystic. is it UPS or USPS tho?

now ODST MP...it's the same as Halo 3 right? or am i missing something other than the map packs?

You're not missing anything, it's Halo 3 MP Mythic, re-branded campaign screen and matchmaking screen is now a dark black instead of navy blue.

Hmm I am loving this game but one major sore point for me is the repeatition...looks like Bungie never learnt their lesson from the Library (or Cortana in Halo3).

Overall it feels as if Bungie ripped off the Gears2 rulebook in more ways than one. :/

1. Weapons based achievements with badges showing progress

2. A sub plot that feels really tacked on (I haven't given any attention to it but I don't think it will matter much)

3. Firefight / Horde (the obvious)

So one last level left for me and I stopped because I am tired of walking. :D

Well, the service record character shots have updated graphics, check it out - it's pretty damn cool.

bought it at the Toys R Us like Mystic and got the action figure and gift card. The action figure made me giggle on the drive back home. The game is good, but the visuals i have to agree don't look as good as Halo 3. It's too dark, kinda depressing, even though i realize that was their point. Haven't tried the MP yet, got too drunk on Steel Reserve. that beer sneaks up on you, it's 8%.

Jianbing i'm the resident lush, don't try to steal my act. and as for your question, there's always money for 1) smokes 2) beer 3) games, not necessarily in that order.

+1 for play n' drink, I thought I was the only one

Can I play Firefight offline?

Yeah thanks for bringing that up. I was in a bit of a rush when I played ODST for the first time, I thought the 2nd DVD had ODST Firefight on it but I realized when I upon the forums earlier that it's just all the maps + 3 more on the mystic dvd. I played one match and then swapped discs.

Anyone dig the jazz music during night time battles on the rookie? I really love it, makes me feel like I'm in a movie conducting an investigation.

+1 for play n' drink, I thought I was the only one

Can I play Firefight offline?

You can, I only played firefight once and I intended to play w/ others but I was by myself.

new ending when completed on legendary

free ODST premium theme available incase you didnt know

You know what sucks.. I spent 250 points buying the theme and now they come out w/ this one.

I could of bought Sonic & Knuckles!

Haven't tried the MP yet, got too drunk on Steel Reserve. that beer sneaks up on you, it's 8%.?

Haven't tried that stuff, but I drink about 8-10 Black Label Supreme or Lucky Force 8 every Friday while jamming, and they're both 8%. It's not so much that they sneak up on you, it's that they absolutely frack you up!!:pp. I'd say just one of them does more damage than two 5% beers. Jamming usually ends when I'm just too drunk to play and can't hold my guitar properly anymore. I've put several dings in it because I've been too drunk and careless:pp.

Totally OT, and granted I do not really drink anymore because when I did drink I had an issue with it, but I just cannot see how you guys can drink and play, I honestly give you credit as I just could never do it. (@ JB - Drink and play music, did that for 10+ years, so can relate to that)

Now smoking a green natural plant that comes out of the ground that god provided himself, well that should be a prerequisite for gaming and some developers should bundle it with the Special Edition!!! :shiftyninja:

So you see, I want this. I want to buy ODST I really do, but I can't help but feel totally duped cause I've already paid for all the DLC and even wasted money on a frickin' Mythic Map Pack Theme...

Now I have to buy all the DLC all over again in physical format :(

Fixed :p

Especially at the prices they're lookin' at chargin for games in the future, I think this would really cut down on piracy!

V-99, thanks for the info. Can we at least play as an ODST in MP or are we stuck with the same character we had in Halo 3?

Draken, it wasn't cool yesterday, disappointed myself. Two of those Steel Reserves put me literally to sleep so instead of playing all day like planned only did a couple hours. Not sure why that happened, i'm quite booze tolerant.

Jianbing that sounds like a good time, but if you start damaging stuff, especially your own, then it defeats the purpose. Civility counts, more so when you're liquored up. Besides can you even play guitar that far past the watermark? I mean it's a bit more demanding than operating a controller i'd imagine.

:punk: They should :shiftyninja:

It would actually chill a lot of these angry people on Live a lot (Y):p

Yeah that does suck, I wonder why they decided to screw over people who already had all the DLC.

I for one am calling for a rebate.

If you buy ODST and have already bought all the Halo 3 DLC you should get some of your money back or something, it's only fair especially with such a short ass campaign.

Yes but wasn't everything sold seperately as well such as Episode 2 and such so they had the option to avoid having 2 copies of HL2 and Episode 1?

Couldn't you gift your second copies as well?

Essentially sell them for a little? I know you can gift HL2 for sure, I still have the option to.

You could as well but my point is the Orange Box isn't as bad as ODST because you had choices whereas with the ODST currently you don't. Your only option is just to buy the DLC in physical format again.

I cant really sell the second disc of ODST either cause that's the only way to gain access to certain playlists in the MP and the only way to get the 3 new maps.

Obviously it's been done to make money and justify the cost of ODST but what they should've really done was have ODST SE with all DLC, ODST Standard which is ODST and Firefight on one disc, and then released the 3 new Halo 3 maps as DLC, which I would've bought.

Now that's choice:)

You're stuck w/ your Halo 3 Profile on the Mystic DVD. I just tacked on a ODST Helmet from the skulls I collected.

I really have to say this but this game was not worth $60 and lucky for me a friend bought it for me.

They really screwed w/ the customers who bought the DLC.

Even though it's not my money that got spent I still think it's a slap to my face they did this and I know I'm not alone in my opinion.

If you bought the game just buy it thinking it's an expansion pack because that's what ODST exactly is. IDK why MS didn't offer this on-demand for $30 that would of sold even more IMO.

Now that makes sense, I don't think they could be bothered doing that though and obviously get more money doing it this way!

whoaaaa  best description ever!! but bad idea, I always fell asleep while "green" gaming

    • ExplorerPatcher 26100.8457.70.3 by Razvan Serea ExplorerPatcher is a versatile and free tool that allows you to tweak and enhance the Windows Explorer. It comes with a range of useful features, including the ability to add new context menu items, change file name colors, and enable hidden features. Feature summary Choose between Windows 11 or Windows 10 taskbar (with labels support, small icons and lots of customization). Disable Windows 11 context menu and command bar in File Explorer and more. Open Start to All apps by default, choose number of frequent apps to show, display on active monitor and more. Choose between the Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows NT Alt-Tab window switcher with customization. Lots of quality of life improvements for the shell, like: Skin tray menus to match Windows style, make them behave like flyouts and center them relative to the icon. Choose action when left and/or right clicking the network icon. Revert to the Windows 7 search box in File Explorer, or disable Windows Search altogether. Disable immersive menus and use mitigations that help you run the real classic theme without glitches. Discover the program's full range of features by reading this wiki article. ExplorerPatcher 26100.8457.70.3 changelog: Tested on OS builds 22621.4317, 22631.7079, 26100.6899, 26100.8037, 26200.8246, 26200.8457, 26300.8493, and 28000.2113. TIP: Windows Defender no longer flags ExplorerPatcher. It is no longer needed to configure Defender exclusions. Enjoy! Important Update for Windows Insider Users If you're running Windows 11 Beta build 26220.8474 or Experimental build 26300.8493, updating ExplorerPatcher is highly recommended. Microsoft has removed parts of the old Windows 10 Start menu from these builds, which caused ExplorerPatcher's Windows 10-style taskbar and Start menu to crash. This update fixes those issues and ensures Explorer starts correctly after future Windows updates. Because the required components are no longer included in Windows, the Windows 10 Start menu option has been disabled on these builds and future builds that lack the necessary files. A temporary workaround is to replace StartTileData.dll with a version from build 26xxx.8457, but this solution may stop working in future releases. The good news: development on the Windows 10 Start menu isn't over yet. More updates are planned. Highlights Fixed crashes affecting the Windows 10 battery flyout on Windows builds 25951 and newer. As part of that fix, network flyout buttons now behave like they did before Windows 11 version 24H2. Changes to the Primary taskbar location on screen setting now apply instantly without requiring a restart. ExplorerPatcher no longer modifies Windows 11 taskbar auto-hide settings when Explorer starts. The Open Start in All apps by default option is now hidden when the new Windows 11 Start menu is enabled. Fixed Windows 10 Start menu crashes on very early Windows 11 builds (21996–22000.51). Fixed a crash in Registry Editor when switching to thumbnail view during registry import/export operations. Improved compatibility with recent Windows builds, especially ARM64 and upcoming 26H1 releases. Improved overall ARM64 performance. Added Greek language translations. Thanks to @KonVetsos! ep_taskbar Improvements ep_taskbar now supports all 43 Windows 11 display languages. Fixed several issues in the system tray and other taskbar components. For mod developers: DLL naming has been simplified and made easier to understand. For mod developers: internal TrayUI changes provide better stability across Windows builds that use different taskbar implementations. Windows 10 Start Menu Improvements To help preserve compatibility, ExplorerPatcher now includes a newly recreated version of the tile layout engine that Microsoft removed in build 26xxx.8474. Current limitations: Tiles may occasionally overlap when pinned in certain ways. Restarting StartMenuExperienceHost.exe or Explorer usually corrects the layout. Further improvements are planned. Additional Fixes Added a blacklist that prevents ExplorerPatcher's shell extension from loading inside specific applications where it may cause problems. Updated Windows 10 Start menu animation support for newer ARM64 Insider builds. Fixed a rare taskbar initialization deadlock that could occur during startup. Start10 Updates Addressed a new compatibility issue caused by Microsoft's ongoing removal of tablet mode code in Windows 11 25H2 Experimental builds. Pinned tiles are no longer reset after repeated crashes. Various wording and interface text improvements throughout the application. Translation and UI Several interface strings have been cleaned up and clarified. Thanks to @sefinek for wording improvements. Please consult the README for more details.
