Searching for a Web host

Question

I am currently looking for a web host ( preferably someone that is NOT free. Here are the features i need to have. I need to be able to host videos, and Images. I also NEED to have the ability to FTP into the site. I do not want to have to use some weird web interface for uploading. Also there needs to be no Upload limit imposed on individual files.

Now to clarify what i am trying to do. I am working on the website www.golfworks.com we are trying to find alternative hosting for our videos. currently they are hosted at office live from Microsoft However they have a 10 mb limit to uploads. and there is no FTP interface that we can use. We also do not want to use you tube because it requires that we have the youtube logo in our videos this is something that we do not want.

i recently switched over to www.asmallorange.com (from reccomendations from this forum)

and is possibly the best host i have had.

they are cheap and have no limits.

they also have a seperate service built for hosting large files if that would suit you better.

Thank you for the information i have looked into it and it looks like an amazing service we are writing up a proposal to the finance department to see if we can go through with it.

Asmallorange has been getting quite a few bad reviews on Webhostingtalk lately - I used to host with them a while back and they were always good so not sure if the reports over there are from people who are chuffed off for some reason or the service is going downhill.

I used to do nothing but recommend A Small Orange, but things are changing :(.

I use them as somewhere to keep things away from my main server, and to be honest, in the last few months it's been nothing but trouble :(. I guess their popularity isn't doing much for their technical ability/technical support).

And as for dreamhost, the phrase "you get what you pay for" couldn't be more apt.

I recommend BlueHost.com. They give you quite a bit (a LOT of storage space and monthly traffic allotment, and lots of other goodies, including a free domain name) for pretty cheap. Very, very little downtime, too. Bishop and I have been hosting GuildCom there for over a year now with no complaints whatsoever; best host I ever used by far. :D
