ths
Guys, I received this E-Mail from my sister earlier today. "Something is wrong with my laptop. I turned it on last night and all the lights came on as usual but it made a really loud beeping noise and nothing happened. The screen was blank and no buttons I pressed did anything" The laptop is a HP Pavilion, I know that for certain. I believe it's a DV something or other, but do not know the exact model. Does any one have any idea what the problem could be and how I could get around this? Looks like I'll have to go around at the weekend and look at it. I'll admit I don't know much about this sort of thing, but just some ideas of what could be the problem would be handy. Apologies that it's very vague, but I haven't been able to look at it yet. What I do know is that it was working fine, she hasn't run any updates or had problems like this before, and simply the PC does not start at all. it doesn't boot up, simply started bleeping and wouldn't do a thing, just a blank screen. Any help at all would be very much appreciated. Sorry that I haven't got any more info, PC's really aren't my strength. LiqHead
Sounds like the RAM may be faulty. Are they short and/or long beeps? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/680188-pc-will-not-start/#findComment-589941002 Share on other sites
ths
Sorry, she has told me it was one very loud beeping noise, rather than noises. I have been told it could be a problem with the motherboard or the bios. This is all foreign to me, I'd just like to know what the most likely problem is. Thanks so far LiqHead. I need your help, Thank you! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/680188-pc-will-not-start/#findComment-589941022 Share on other sites
Alexandre.
I had thee same problem with my HP Pavilion ZD, the mobo was fried. And HP mobos are really expensive, try taking the RAM out. Malik05
ok i think its the RAM and not the mobo...when the system boots, does the HP logo, or any writing in white appear? if so, then the mobo should be fine as it is showing life...
