Why Is Box.Net So Popular?

Recommended Posts

i have both dropbox and use box.net

i use box.net for school.. 1gb is more than i need to store documents and hmwrk assignments.

the cool thing is, i can open a document, save it, and then i can "replace with new version" so easy and it has a ton of other great features.

where do you take your informations that this site is popular?

so many things support it, it integrates with practically everything.

i already have a Paid hosting, im using it only to have it do automatic things like upload my addons, automatic backup of stuff, and it has great support to everything.

I really like the look of dropbox - however in the intro video on the site it says they're "still in private beta but you can sign up to give it a shot".

I can't find a link to signup... :(

http://www.getdropbox.com

It's come out to public beta for a while now, just click the download link, you'll be able to sign up for an account on first-run.

I'm using it! It's free and it's a veery fast way for uploading files and sending links to friends. I also have Rapid premium but theirs managing files is non existent! :(

And btw. Dropbox != Box.net

dropbox

- syncing files between YOUR OWN computers

box.net

- sharing and organizing files for yourself or sending links to friends

Dropbox actually lets you share images etc with friends... it gives you a link.

I love Box.net However, I never use it. I just don't share things that often like that... or like collaborate that often.

I think the answer you're looking for is: Because it's easy-to-use, has nice graphics and a nice interface, and is rather intuitive and user-friendly.

    • No. The file manager is a lost cause. After all, its dev receives all the undeserved praise he could evre wish from Neowin, without having actually earned it. This has never lead to improvements.
