Dead Space is only a week away!

Recommended Posts

Well ****, the PC release date isn't until October 20. WTF EA?
That's only a week longer, what seems to be the issue? At least its not months.

Yeah I agree with KICK, a "normal" time difference really between platforms.

Try being a Silent Hill fan just now finding out SH5 which is out in America (has been for about 1 week) is being delayed to Feb 2009 for Europe :/

Off topic ... Any word on why the delay? Is it because of our german cousins and censorship?

No reason for delay yet :(

If I wasn't strapped for cash I'd import it on the PS3 as it's region free, cause I'd really like to play before Feb09 :/ (KZ2 comes out then)

I'll be honest, I hadn't even heard about this game until I read the IGN review yesterday. It sounds amazing from what I can tell, and I'm about to watch the GameTrailers preview that was linked in the OP.

I'm looking forward to it for sure (Y)

Haha, I was the same way. Glad to see there's going to be a PC version too. :D

it's about 10-12 hours of gameplay.

plus the reviews said that you'll need to go through the game more than once to get every item and to get the full story

one down side is that once you choose a difficulty level, you can't change it at any time during the game, including when you replay it after you finish it

hmmm I don't know.. it doesn't look that interesting to me.. I will have to pass. And I don't find the style of it appealing.. doens't look cool enough compared to games like Gears or even Bioshock. That's just me though. lol.

A small review from Ars
The good

  • Beautiful graphics, strong engine
  • Weapons are original, balanced well
  • Survival horror play makes every decision important
  • Strong story, voice acting, writing
  • Brand new IP, everything feels fresh
  • Deep backstory, which you can explore in multiple ways
  • Scary!

The bad

  • 12 hour playtime and single-player only may make this a rental for some
  • Explaining the stains in your pants

The ugly

  • The masses of gamers who will miss out on an incredible experience because of a DRM-inspired EA boycott

Verdict: Buy

From article linked above.

thank god for gamefly. hopefully I can finish this game within 2 weeks

also, this video sold me on the dead space franchise

I think I'll be picking up the cartoon DVD when it comes out.

Changing the difficulty in the middle of gameplay is a... bad thing?

I just wish they've enhanced the smoothness + graphic quality on the PC. I guess it's third person too on the PC? (looking at how you need to see your health and the video feed straight on your character)

I hate seeing those console games ported straight to the PC (you can even sometimes see the "Vibration on/off" setting on the options O_o)

well, if I finish the game and thought it was too easy and would like a challenge, I would like the option to try a higher difficulty level

Well that part makes sense, but I never understood the concept of changing the difficulty in the middle of a campaign.

From what ive heard it only applys if you want to move your character across with all the items and ect you found. other wise you can change it if you dont want to do a move.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just want to say this game is freakin awesome. My game of the year so far.

EA has redeemed themselves for awhile and proved they can still make a kick butt game with tons of gore and a great atmosphere.

Its like RE4 but in space.

    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
    • Interesting read. I knew the adware was quite controversial at the time, however never realised to the point The Guardian wrote an article about Patchou. I just said no and enjoyed his creation, I’d probably be a lot more wary of something like that today though.
