Buy a ZOTAC 9600GT for $94.99 at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814500019

The price comes down to $69.99 after a $25 mail-in rebate.

that was a nice video card back in the day... if you had the 7900 i would say no...

but i think you shoudl go with a nvidia 9800 for now. your system will hold the card back but the benefit to that is if you decide to upgrade your whole system next month, you can use this 9800 in the new system and have some sweet gaming going....

if you are sure you won't need the little future that the 9800 offers then the nvidia 8800 series should be a good place to settle. they are very good stable cards and if you decide to over clock them, they can almost match the performance of the 9800.

You're welcome. I strongly suggest that you take my recommendation into consideration. Anything more powerful and you'd risk using an "under-performing" video card.

After all, your Intel C2D E4300 @ 1.8 GHz w/ 2MB cache isn't that fast.

yeap that's my fear... buy something that can't perform at the maximum cause the other components :p

Yeah, it's unfortunate. You should be alright with what I recommended. It's a fairly decent video card and it should perform well with current games. A friend of mine has it and he's quite happy.

yeap looks like a good option.. I just need to check cause for me its a little hard to buy the things and more to reclaim the rebates :( , cause I live in Mexico, so a cousin thats lives in USA buy me the items from new egg, and i would have to give him more job with the rebate issue hehe... but thats another story

What games do you play and what are you willing to spend?

i play wow the major part of the time... but i could try another games and i will need good graphics to enjoy them :p... mm to spend... the much i need for a good option for my actual specs... improving the vid card

What resolution do you play games at?

Almost every game will run @ 1280x1024 with a 9600GT/9600GSO/4650/4670/3850/3870 (these should all be under 110US). If you need a little more performance, look at the 9800GT/9800GTX/8800GT/4850/4870.

If you want to play games with HDR/AA/AF, you'll want a powerful video card, since the CPU generally doesn't matter in these situations.

i have a 19 inch monitor.. 1440x900 ^^

The GeForce 9600 GT will rip through games @ 1440x900. Did you know? The number of distinct pixels in a 1280x1024 monitor is more than that of a 1440x900 monitor. So, that's less work for your video card and more FPS in your games since you'll be playing them at your monitor's native resolution.

oo cool... so i think i have my best option now:P.. thanks

You're welcome. Good luck on acquiring the video card. You said you live in Mexico and newegg only ships to the US (ouch!). It wasn't until recently that Canada got their own newegg website. Unfortunately, the prices aren't as good as the US version.

yeap that's the most difficult part... If I would have lived in USA with new egg as close as 1 mouse click... I probably would have got crazy some years ago hehe... so ill need a little help of my family that live there...

Thanks again for ur recommendations.. :)

It's the most difficult part for most people. With the prices I see on the US newegg, I'd do anything to get it shipped to me. Anyway, check your inbox. :)

I think newegg.ca just adjusts prices according to the CA dollar, though don't quote me on it. I keep seeing my CPU price going up as I haven't checked out my order yet (and this coincides a little with the loonie dropping in value).

Anyhow, I really love my 9600GT. I would recommend for you to go higher but you probably don't need the speed, just the ability to play your games at decent levels of graphics with good performance. Hope you can find one at a decent price. I hope you've got a decent PSU already. The 9600GT doesn't take up alot of power though, so that's the good news.

I wouldn't waste my money on the 9600 GT. For only like.. what... 30-40 more bucks, you can get the 9800 which beats the 9600 hands down.

If you're looking for more speed, save the money and get the card you really want. Yeah, it might take a week or two longer, but IMHO would be so worth the wait. That's what I'm doing now; saving longer for better parts.

As a side note, for $179 right now on Newegg you can get the Q6600. That CPU matched with a nice 9800GT would be a great improvement in many areas of your computer.

    • Amazon Prime Day slashes Samsung's newest Galaxy Watch Ultra by 45 percent by Karthik Mudaliar Samsung’s flagship Android smartwatch has received one of its steepest Prime Day cuts. Amazon has dropped the 2025 Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra in Titanium Blue to $357.24, saving buyers around $292 from its $649.99 list price. That's a 45 percent discount (purchase link below). The 47mm Galaxy Watch Ultra uses a titanium casing and a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x 480 and peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It includes LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, NFC, and dual-frequency L1+L5 GPS for more accurate outdoor route tracking. The 2025 model has 64GB of storage, a 590mAh battery, sapphire crystal glass, 10ATM water resistance, IP68 protection, and MIL-STD-810H durability testing. Its health and fitness tools include heart rate monitoring, sleep coaching, Energy Score, Running Coach, body composition analysis, temperature sensing, and ECG support, where available. This model is best suited to Android users who regularly run, hike, cycle, or train outdoors and want cellular access without carrying a phone. The larger battery, rugged construction, bright display, and dedicated Quick Button also make it a stronger option than Samsung’s regular Galaxy Watch models for extended workouts and demanding environments. • Google begins rolling out its post-Epic Play Store billing model next week by Karthik Mudaliar Google has confirmed that its redesigned Play Store billing and fee structure will take effect on June 30, 2026, in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Economic Area. The changes will let eligible developers offer their own payment systems or send users to an external website for purchases, while separating Google’s platform service fee from the cost of using Google Play Billing. The rollout puts concrete dates and detailed rate cards behind the broader Android policy overhaul Google announced in March. That announcement followed a proposed settlement with Epic Games intended to resolve their long-running disputes over app distribution and payments, although the U.S. portion of the agreement still requires court approval. Under the new billing choice program, developers selling digital content or services can display an alternative payment option alongside Google Play Billing. They may also direct users to their own websites to complete a purchase. Developers can use Google’s standard payment-choice screen or design one that complies with the company’s user-interface rules. Choosing another payment processor does not eliminate Google’s cut altogether. The company will continue charging a service fee for transactions associated with apps distributed through Google Play, regardless of whether payment is handled by Google, an alternative provider, or a developer’s website. Google argues that this fee covers the value and infrastructure provided by Android and the Play Store. For developers earning up to $1 million annually, the service fee will generally be 10 percent. That rate also applies to auto-renewing subscriptions. When Google Play Billing is used in the U.S., U.K., or EEA, Google will add a separate 5 percent billing fee, and developers processing payments elsewhere will not pay that additional charge. This means Google’s familiar flat 30 percent commission is disappearing, but developers will not necessarily see a dramatic reduction on every transaction. An in-app purchase from an existing user processed through Google Play Billing can still reach a combined 30 percent. The biggest savings are likely to come from subscriptions, smaller developers covered by the $1 million tier, and companies able to move customers to their own payment infrastructure. Google is also offering lower rates through its Apps Experience and revamped Games Level Up programs. Apps and games that satisfy the company’s requirements can qualify for 15 percent service fees on new-install transactions and 20 percent on existing-install transactions. The criteria include performance and reliability standards, support for additional Android device categories, and selected platform features. Those program rates are scheduled to become available in the initial markets and Australia on September 30. For consumers, the immediate effect will depend on whether developers adopt alternative payments and pass any savings on through lower prices. For developers, however, June 30 begins a more flexible but considerably more complicated Play Store economy in which distribution, billing, install dates, revenue thresholds, and program participation can each affect Google’s final cut. Google is also separately developing a Registered App Stores program designed to simplify the installation of qualifying third-party stores. That initiative is expected to arrive with a major Android release later in 2026 and will launch outside the U.S. first. Google says the rest of the world will receive the changes by September 30, 2027, although billing rates for markets outside the US, UK, and EEA have not yet been announced.
