39 Thieves
More fans? "Bigger" videocard? Killer K1 ethernet card that does absolutely nothing more than any card, and gets horrible reviews at Newegg... What the hell happened to this place? Where did all the people with a clue go..? Ytterbium
I'd only upgrade the ram if you need to, check your commit charge max in taskmanager, if that exceeds your physical memory then your running out and you need more if not then your not using all your ram having more is a waste. scaramonga
Go back to a decent P35 chipset, that will really speed things up :) X38+ is the bottleneck ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/680758-how-to-speed-up-this-computer/page/2/#findComment-589956426 Share on other sites

compgenius2003
I am considering purchasing the Asus Xonar DX2 sound card, possibly the GTX280 (after I read some more reviews), and upgrading to 8GB of memory. However, I am not sure if I should stick with DDR2 or not. If I do buy DDR2 then it will be DDR2 1200, a little faster than my 1066 that I have right now. But, on the other hand, I could get DDR3 1600+ which would last me longer. The down side to DDR3 is I would have to switch out the motherboard as well. I guess what I am wondering is, will DDR3 1600+ (running at 1333 because I don't want to overclock yet) be worth it and noticeable over DDR2 1200? compgenius2003
Nevermind about the memory. Apparently Newegg has a rebate on some Corsair memory, going with 8GB DDR2 1066 is less than $200 USD. Compaired to 8GB DDR3 1600+ alone is about $300-400. Then add the cost of a motherboard, that makes it around $600-800. I believe the choice is clear. Now I just need to decide on the video card. compgenius2003
Does anyone know if it is possible for a RAID disk to be marked dirty/bad?
