Thinking of getting an iPod - need help

Recommended Posts

njloych you tried one of these babies they are awesome! I love my iPod touch and for years I have been totally against apple (was a creative guy). The interface is flawless really,so easy to use. Very user friendly and constants updates to make things better. At the moment app store has the best community with devs popping up all over. You know it's that easy I'm typing this on my touch stoned Lol

The iPhone doesn't have GPS, just to clarify.

Triangulating your mobile signal isn't GPS, much less accurate.

Also, if you're looking for GPS in a phone, might wanna forget it. I've heard GPS times are a joke (and I got fed up with waiting on this N95 8GB).

Umm... it does have GPS. Would you mind telling me how my iPhone 3G can tell me exactly where I am?

From what I can see, njlouch, you're not really urgent to have the phone you what, right?

Since almost every month got new release, its better to wait and see, but, if the phone you looking for use by your friends or your family, its better you to try them first, survey...

Had my iphone for a while now, love it, i cannot say one thing bad that annoys me really, awesome web browser, GPS is amazing, messaging is fun and new format, little applications like weather become very useful, all round i feel this phone is under rated, i would not go back to my nokia N95 ever...

Forget it, I was thinking of the original iPhone, which did not have a GPS receiver.

But, if it didn't, it could give you a rough estimate of where you are by triangulating your phone signal (which is used in addition to the GPS receiver in this case, as A-GPS).

Ummm....

iPhone 3G definately has GPS and can accurately pinpoint exactly where you are. I know - I speak from experience.

Cell phone triangulation kicks in initially when you first load maps - and you get a rough overview of where you are and after 30 seconds (or less if you're outdoors) it'll pinpoint you exactly and quite accurately. If you walk around, the dot will follow you with only a small amount of delay. There is no way that is cell tower triangulation.

No. And that's the problem with mobile phones - you don't really get much chance to test them out before buying your way into a contract :(

I think EVENTUALLY I will get an iPhone - but maybe next gen. The camera needs serious work, the tetherting restriction needs to be lifted. Sorry, but these 2 features are what stand in the way for me. Also charging and battery.

No doubt it's a great little device, and the UI is amazing. But it's just not for me... Yet!

But you must conform! Do it now! :D
