But seriously, this is still a pretty big community. Sometimes yeah there's lamers but in general it's still more mature than what you can find out there.

Where will you go now? I'd go to 4chan.

Stuff like this image is what people get fed up with. Its been done countless times and has no value to the thread.

1) I agree, neowin is now full of kids hiding behind monitors, who in the real world wouldn't stand up to ****, but on here feel it's acceptable to completely berate people and act like the hard man!

Agreed, some of the responses I've got over moderator actions are weird when you consider the fact that someone actually was behind it and wrote it.

2) If you do not enjoy a place, leave - but I would suggest you make mods aware of the sentiment - they need to know the overall feelings on the forums when they turn sour.

Agreed, like Barney said, this place is huge. PureLegend  The Report Button.

3) But don't rub ego by making a thread about it. PM those you wish to stay in contact with. Then again, why the hell not!

Agreed, though I probably wouldn't agree if this was titled something other than "Farewell" and it was more about the state of Neowin than you leaving.

... and I must be the village douche bag. :D

Take joy in knowing that you are not the village spam-bot.

to OP: I don't know who you are, or if you are actually going to leave or not, but farewell and safe Inter-tube travels. It's always sad to lose a valuable member.

:sorcerer:

I'm leaving, I'm tired of people arguing in every topic nowadays. It just seems this place is full of underage fanboy geegs. Every topic here seems to turn into fight about nonsense and i'm sick of it.

But I will still miss alot of people here :) .

Goodbye threads = Attention seeking, you'll be back.

Yeah, I've noticed that the quality of the posts on many communities have spiraled downwards recently. Common decency and respect for another member's opinion has diminished in many forums, and not a day goes by that someone has to drag religion into some topic where it wasn't needed. I'm not affiliated with any religion, but I have to admit that many of these Atheist's are getting to be just as bad as the religious zealot's! Digg.com was a site I visited often in the past because I was treated with unique news over a variety of topics. Today I often see something about Atheism, politics, marijuana, lolcats and some random video that wouldn't even make the ranks if it were dugg legitimately.

But I digress, farewell Joni_78!

The quality of Neowin's posts have indeed declined.

Instead of supporting and helping, all I see is bashing, bashing, bashing ad nauseam, along with caption pictures and other crap.

Come to think of it, the bashing threads about Windows Vista has truly grown old. I even got warned for "attacking another member" when *he* started the bashing crap. That guy I "attacked" should have been warned for being an idiot in the first place, anyway. :hmmm:

Go ahead, mods. Warn me some more - just goes to show how much the quality of posts here on Neowin have been declining more. By warning me - *and* humiliating me via showing my warning level to other people here - you have just proven my point. Thanks.

With responses like these I'm not surprised he's leaving.

Wow, really. i was reading the comments and were some of those really needed? dont let the door hit u on the way out? wow, really? cant u just not say anything?

Anyways, sorry to see u go, cant remember u on the topics, but i know what u mean, sometimes its not always a friendly place to post a question, or even try to help someone, but its still a lot better (thaks to the moderators) than other forums out there. Anyways, good luck with everything.

1) You don't know how other members are disciplined. It is not a public affair.

2) Your warn level is not shown to other members. I'm not sure where you got the idea that it was.

Basically, it goes like this: it does not matter who starts what. If you participate in it, you will be disciplined. To say, "well he started it!" is about as childish as it gets, and I'm surprised anybody on here is using that as a defense.

It just seems this place is full of underage fanboy geegs. Every topic here seems to turn into fight about nonsense and i'm sick of it.

Feel the same way as you.

Which is too bad since I've gotten a lot out of Neowin (link to an excellent keyboard I didn't know about, link to a VGA to DVI cable, etc.) yet there are still idiots running around here that are now on ignore :o

I now what you mean bro. I blame the Web 2.0 revolution. It use to be when people joined forums or participated forums it was because they needed help or wanted to help. Thats not the case anymore. We have one post wonders bashing everything from Vista to scrambled eggs.

P.S: who remember where you could click on ANY of the current forum threads and be captivated by what you read and more so. after you had finished reading you actually LEARNED something.

This is simply going off topic unfortunately. Members can be ignored if you dislike their posts and when you sign up you agree to follow our rules here. If you don't, you get warned. We can't force anyone to stay, but leaving simply because some members act immature is silly.

On the farewell song note...

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.

    • Qwen 3.6 is better value per dollar, and you can run it locally for free.
