I'd prefer to talk to my friends on IRC or something else less bloated than today's IM clients >_>

Digsby or Pidgin :)

I rarely use WLM anymore as it does just feel full of bloat. Even once it's been patched to remove adverts etc you still get people with nothing to say substituting talk with stupid nudges/winks and custom emotes :(

I disagree completely with this, Home's been talked about for years (literally), the NXE has only been around for a few months now and guess what - they're both "closed" systems, but chances are you'll know a couple of people currently testing Home, but I don't know anyone that's got the NXE right now.

And since both are being released on the same date (Which is just over a month away), if you feel you don't know enough about Home to make a decision like this, but you do know enough about NXE (And this thread isn't about which is better, it's about which you're most excited about!), then either there's not enough to get excited about, or Sony's Marketing department is having an off day. While I'm sure the latter is the case, you have to admit, Sony's marketing is usually it's strong point, so what gives?

Both are two completely different systems, aimed at two completely different objectives, but they do share one thing in common - they're what the big M and the big S are doing to try to get users and excite people. I think it's pretty evident Microsoft is currently hitting things right, but once the novelty of a new dash wears off, I'll be interested to see who comes up on top, because technically Home is far above and beyond Microsoft's simple (by comparison) Avatar system.

I'm excited about them both, I'm just saying I'm not making a decision till I know exactly what's coming in Home for release, like I currently know about NXE.

Well of course, there's probably some extra stuff in NXE, but I know the bulk of what's coming.

With Home it's either a guess that I'll get roughly what beta testers have right now, or version 1.0 will have more content.

Until Sony officially detail what I'm getting in Home I just can't be totally excited.

Not really a marketing issue, it's just waiting a few weeks till they explain it all for launch - I'm already excited enough for the project in terms of what's been marketed.

Fair enough, but the gaming aspects of Home, can't be done in IM clients.

Group partying then game launching into any game, visting a virtual E3/GDC/TGS/etc.

Not saying any of that needs to interest you, just saying Home is more advanced than a simple chat application :p

I'm saying Home as NXE seems to me more like a new UI rather than any real experience. Home is more of a community development straight on the PS3 itself.

I haven't read much about either though, so we'll see any way. But I'll be booting my PS3 first ;)

I could so pull a cheap shot on that one but will get in trouble for that :p
