Wifi in server 2008 workstation

Recommended Posts

I got wifi working in server 08, it wasn't that hard, just had to enable it in server manager.

I have a DWL-G132 and got it working using x64 vista drivers for another card, a WUA-2340, which i discovered in another board and everything was working great for a while, then it stopped working.

I did two things around the same time.

I installed libusb for a camera, and i installed some windows updates.

It was giving me an error in Device Manager, so i thought of libusb and uninstalled it and restarted.

After that, it wasn't giving me an error anymore, it just wouldn't detect any netorks. Even if I manually enter in a network, or use a program like WiFiHopper (which uses its own services and scanner), it still doesn't connect.

I happened to find new drivers for it, so I completly uninstalled the device, and then restarted, and then reinstalled the newer drivers, nothing.

I am for the first time ever at a complete loss here.

The only possible thing i can think of was that libusb didn't uninstall completly, but i don't know how i would go about fixing that.

I am using my old XP installation right now, and am planning to buy a router to use as a wireless bridge so i won't have to mess with stuff like this in a week or so, but I'd prefer to get it working again as i prefer server 08.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

bump, just uninstalled all the updates and same thing

uninstalled everything i had that dealt with wireless including the wifi dongle and then rebooted, reinstalled the driver only, and no dice.

The VERY last thing i think to do before reinstalling would be to disable wireless netwrking in server manager, reboot, then reenable it.

If anybody has ANY suggestions, please post.

    • This 4K webcam from Acer is now only $59.99 by Taras Buria Those looking for an affordable, high-resolution webcam from a reputable manufacturer can check out the latest deal from Acer, which puts its 4K webcam at a solid price. Thanks to a 14% discount, you can buy this all-metal 4K webcam from Acer for just $59.99. Despite the affordable price tag, the webcam has a pretty large 1/2" CMOS sensor manufactured by Sony. Apart from its size, it supports additional conveniences, such as high dynamic range and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). Plus, the camera ensures you do not have to buy additional audio equipment, as it comes with two built-in high-sensitivity microphones, a built-in background noise filter, and the ability to pick up your voice from up to 2.5 meters away. Acer is not cheaping out on materials, and the webcam is enclosed in a more premium metal case, which is also good at heat dissipation (high-resolution cameras can get quite hot). And to make sure no one is peeping at you when the camera is in use, there is a magnetic cover also made of metal. Additional conveniences include an LED status indicator and a built-in mount that lets you place a camera on a tripod.
