[Football] David Beckham to join AC Milan on loan.

Recommended Posts

David Beckham has agreed to move to AC Milan on loan in January, the Italian club has told BBC Sport.

The England midfielder, 33, plays for Los Angeles Galaxy, whose Major League Soccer season ends this weekend.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "Beckham has chosen Milan. He'll stay here in Milan on loan for a few months.

"Our squad is ultra-competitive and it will remain this way but Beckham is something different and intriguing."

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is eager to stay in England coach Fabio Capello's plans during the MLS close season.

Unbelievable! Who would have expected that, congratulations to him. He has got to step up his level now

Beckham needs two more appearances to become England's most-capped outfield player, taking him past Bobby Moore, who played 108 times for his country.

Italian Capello has made it clear he will only select players who are active and in form.

LA Galaxy, who had previously insisted that Beckham would not be able to move to another club on loan during their close season, will play exhibition matches in Australia and New Zealand in December and the midfielder will obviously be the big draw.

He joins a stellar squad at Milan, including Brazilians Ronaldinho, Kaka and Alexandre Pato, as well as Italian internationals Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear he would welcome Beckham's arrival.

"For me, it will be a pleasure. Beckham is a serious athlete, a great professional," he stated.

"If he'll be available for us, we'll be very happy."

Beckham would be eligible to play for Milan both domestically and in the Uefa Cup.

Really interesting move this. I know a lot of people dislike David Beckham, but I don't mind him and I hope he does well at AC.

His wife probably has the last say in his moves though; Madrid, LA and now Milan? Good shops!

I guess he got bored of MLS.

Nope he is still there his contract is long term, he is just going to AC Milan between the out months of the League, MLS runs from April to October.

CONFIRMED

Italian giants AC Milan have confirmed David Beckham will join the club on loan from LA Galaxy on 7th January.

The Rossoneri made little secret of their interest in signing the former Real Madrid and Manchester United player following the conclusion of the MLS season.

With Beckham on a lucrative contract with The Galaxy, the Los Angeles club have decided to offset some of that outlay by allowing Beckham to join AC Milan during the close-season.

The news of Beckham's stint in Italy is also a boost for Fabio Capello as it means the former captain of the side maintains his match sharpness ahead of England's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on 1st April.

AC Milan's Umberto Gandini has confirmed Beckham will only remain with the club until he is required to return to re-join The Galaxy to train ahead of the new MLS season.

Committed

"The deal is for as long as David wishes but I think he's committed to MLS and LA Galaxy will bring him back after a couple of months I think," he told Sky Sports News.

"I think he will have to go back to MLS by the time it starts and training before that. A final date has not been agreed yet, but obviously it's down to MLS to decide."

When asked if Beckham could stay longer than his initial loan period, Gandini re-iterated the veteran midfielder is committed to MLS.

"David is committed to LA Galaxy. We thank them for letting him play and train with us," he continued. "Only David knows his future. He has a commitment to MLS and I'm sure he'll fulfill that.

"At our club Beckham will have a lot of people and a lot of players that have his ability and his status so I think he will be very beneficial for him and the English game.

"David is coming as a Milan player. He will train with the other Milan players and his selection will be up to the coaches as it is everywhere."

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
