Recommended Posts

Just out of nowhere, I get "Explorer Stopped Working" message when I open Windows Update every time. I tried rebooting but still get the same thing.

EDIT: Here's windows update, then seconds later explorer crashes.

If it's not there, I got nothing. Note that uninstalling doesn't necessarily always remove all files associated, which is why I asked.

The actual DMP file produced during the crash process might be more illuminative, but right now this just seems like aftereffects of Daemon Tools problems. It would not be possible for anyone to help you further based upon the information so far. The DMP file might have data that would allow people to help you further, but without that I think you've hit a dead end here so far, but with the knowledge that this appears to have been caused originally by Daemon Tools.

I've installed daemon tools lite 4.30.1, and explorer still crashed!! The file imgengine.dll is present in daemon folder, if that would make a difference. It's the same APPCRASH report I got before when I open Windows Update.

The data you pointed to indicated that the initial installation of Daemon Tools should have caused this. It remains to be seen whether or not uninstalling or reinstalling or upgrading Daemon Tools would solve that introduced problem. If you cannot solve this problem, one solution would be to reformat and this time **not** ever install Daemon Tools.

All of the sudden I can update windows normally. The auto update notified me of new updates, downloaded and installed them. I manually opened the Update window and showed everything, unlike the screenshot above, and didn't crash. I still have daemon lite tools installed and didn't change anything since. I have no clue what changed... :/

    • I cannot believe this is a news post from Neowin. This should be embarassing, coming from a "senior editor". Is it your first day using Windows?! Maybe it's time to find a new Windows news site.
    • It's from having Core Isolation enabled in Windows security settings, which is a good thing!  It's letting you know it's not loading the Bonjour module as it's not signed in a way it would prefer. Bonjour was most likely installed along with iTunes. Feel free to disable that message using the checkbox.
    • I'm looking forward to starting over online. I have no reason to keep all the money, cars, rank after 13 years. Now if I can just move my character itself and nothing else. I would be fine with that. But I doubt they would do a setup that way.
