HistoricalNeowin
Whats wrong with that? Nothing is more hardcore than braving 2" of snow without any gritting or plowing eh. The roads around my way were like glass when I woke up this morning. Cars wheels spinning but going nowhere. If anything there wasn't enough done. After all, didn't we know about this snow at the start of LAST week? What are they going to do, grit the roads a week early? Put heaters out on the motorway? digitalsoft
Yes, amazing i know... ;) I was limited to small snowmen as my dog kept stealing the snowballs. I shall make an uber snowman later as the snow is falling like crazy. antsy
/\ Humbug! Quite a few people seem to be falling into the trap of underexposing snow, you need to use exposure compensation otherwise it will look a dreary grey. +Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted February 3, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted February 3, 2009 I am sad it's gone :( But we had an awesome time last night. GF came home to find me making snow angels in our cul-de-sac. Then our neighbours laghed at me cos I'm 30 and still make snow angels. Then I fell down some concrete stairs. Then we had a 2 hour snowfight at the pub (about 30 of us). Top evening of fun :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/688692-snowing-in-uk/page/9/#findComment-590522864 Share on other sites

Denis W. Veteran Posted February 4, 2009 Veteran Share Posted February 4, 2009 A little snowstorm can stall an entire nation? :p That looks intense though. London grinding to a halt and all. You British lads will absolutely despise our weather over here, constant snowstorms in the US that make their way here. We're heading towards our snowiest winter in decades, so I heard. Call me when London has to bring in the national army or something to dig the city out. We had to  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/688692-snowing-in-uk/page/9/#findComment-590525980 Share on other sites
Shibby
It's no so much we're weak (ok we are), but the UK doesn't really have plans or for when we get snow, it only happens about once or twice a year. The last time it snowed might have been about April last year. The local councils could run out of gritting salt, because we don't normally expect this sort of cold snap. As for infrastructure such as trains and airports which also applies to the local councils, they don't really have huge numbers of equipment for snow plowing. Call me when London has to bring in the national army or something to dig the city out. We had to  Don't judge me or my fellow countrymen and women on a few moaners that don't like snow. The reason things just close down is because we have gutless politicians that have allowed it to become this way. Where I live, which is about 40 miles from central London, we get snow since I have been here, 4 years out of the past 6. In London, where my mother lives, they have had it 2 years out of the past 6. If you goto the borders you get it for 4 months, 5 times heavier and every year. One of the decision we are making is the heavy weather in Northern Canada. We all like snow, we enjoy the correct weather conditions for the time of year. So this will be a plus in our migration plans. Inklin
The best of the snow missed Dover, we finally had some decent snow on Monday, but it was quickly followed by rain which melted it all :( Hopefully we get more on Friday/night like they say! We saw the gritters go around our estate about 3 times on Monday. my step-dad said where he was he say them go around 6 times :o Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/688692-snowing-in-uk/page/9/#findComment-590529008 Share on other sites

Fid
Snow here once again! Not AS much as last time, but still quite a bit. And it looks like it has just fallen on top of the ice that was on the roads and paths. Surely that's too dangerous for lectures to be on!! ;) haha According to the BBC Weather website, we're expecting more heavy snow here on Monday :s Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/688692-snowing-in-uk/page/9/#findComment-590531742 Share on other sites
