Mirror's Edge demo coming tomorrow

Recommended Posts

PS3 is lead platform for Mirrors Edge for the record.

Can't wait to download :( Damn bandwidth limits!

Whop de doo, may have been the lead platform, but AA is platform agnostic ;) it is well known that 360 can do AA a lot better, so I am very keen to see if they have taken advantage of it. otherwise, it is a stunning looking game. Sound effects, music etc are all spot on. It definitely has more of a racer feel to it though than FPS/Platformer etc, really unique which I love about it.

Just had a quick playthrough, the game is really fun. Controlls are very intuitive, graphics are good but there is HUGE problem with jaggies, I think that's more down to the PS3s inability to handle AA more than the game itself, i'll be interested in seeing the 360 version.

On the plus side, they have the 'whole body' thing down to a tee. It really feels like you're an actual person in the game rather than a bodyless set of floating arms like in Valve games. Looking forward to getting this on release.

I have seen UT 3 on the PS3 and the jaggies don't look so bad, but then again Mirror's Edge is very very White, that makes them more noticeable.

ohh... Mirrors Edge uses the UT 3 Engine... BTW

Seriously, I love how people blame their crap connections or their crap ISP's for bad PSN speeds. I truly do.

So sorry, but I download things on the PSN just as fast if not faster than Live, as AB pointed out, I got Ratchet N Clank Quest For Booty in less than 15 minutes, and it was over 2 GIGS.

But thats right, I have the magic PS3, the only one in the world, that downloads fast.

It sure as hell seems like it sometimes

My PS3 download speeds are awful as well and I know it's a pretty common thing around here and EG.

Edit: wow for a change my speed doesn't suck  Not to mention I haven't set up the ports for the download and I have torrents dling/upling too. A nice change

Can't wait to try the game!

I still don't know if I am going to get this for the PS3 or PC. I never could grasp the concept of FPSs on a console. I know, I know, it's not a FPS, but I still have to wait to see what controls are more comfortable for me. There are only a few genre of games, IMHO, that console controllers are suited for.

Just had a whirl on the demo; it seems fun. I can imagine after a few sessions it would become quite natural to flow through a long level stringing together combinations of moves. The use of Sixaxis is nice too. It's refreshing to see game consider it as part of the gameplay, rather than doing the standard "throw it in at the end" approach, which always fails.

Oh, and for the record I download the demo at max speed. :p

Why didn't I see this thread earlier?! I'm downloading now. Currently at 8%, and it's 00:46. Looks like I'm gonna have to pass the time with some WipEout HD and some Unbeatable Banzuke! :D

Downloaded it last night on the PS3. Absolutely love Mirrors Edge, its a brilliant idea for a game thats well executed.

I was a little worried how the controls would work, all in all its extremely fluid and you get to pull off some really cool jumps and disarm moves.

Another game to add to the purchase list....there are too many games coming out!

Ok i just played the demo and other than the AA issue on the PS3 (haven't tried it on 360), the game is a must buy...

The city looks amazing and the whole thing feels very organic, from the heavy breathing to the momentum you gain when you jump/run...

I think im probably going to wait for the PC version though.

On my TV the jaggies look horrible on the PS3 version (the game doesn't scale to 1080i :() so for me the definite version will be the PC, where i turn the AA to 11 :)

    • MVS subscribers got the proper 26200.8655 Win11 25H2 ISO downloads as of 6/16/2026 avoiding this whole MCT fiasco by MS. I'll obtain the official 8655 MVS ISO download instead.
    • too bad the "backend" June 2026 ESD files are still at build 26200.8653 and not at the correct build 26200.8655 release. I'll avoid using the MCT for several weeks until late July 2026
    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.
