Marvel Unleashes Iron Man's New Armor

Marvel is proud to unveil a new look for Iron Man, signaling a new era for Tony Stark and the Marvel Universe! From the minds of Eisner Award-winning series writer Matt Fraction and Ryan Meinerding, designer on the "Iron Man" and "Thor" films, comes the most bleeding edge, out of this world armor you've ever seen! Following the sold-out "Stark Disassembled" storyline, the Marvel Universe still needs its armored champion and a new mission requires a new kind of armor! But when you see just what Iron Man has planned for the Marvel Universe, your jaw will be on the floor! There's never been a super hero like the new Iron Man!

"The inspiration for the new design came from thinking about a sleeker, leaner, tougher Iron Man," revealed Fraction. "If technology is increasingly getting smaller and lighter it seems like the Iron Man should do the same: ergonomic and aerodynamic. We were looking for something that felt as sleek and glossy as a sports car Tony Stark would covet. I love what we've come up with. It feels like the next evolutionary step in the Iron Man's design."

A bold new direction for Iron Man starts here with the perfect jumping on point for readers old and new alike, as the all-new Iron Man makes his debut in INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #25, on-sale this April!

In other news, Jon Favreau was recently asked by a fan on Twitter if Iron Man 2 took place before or after 2008?s The Incredible Hulk.Favreau simply responded, ?before.? Yes, I?m about to launch into an analysis of what a single word means to several films ? something which Favreau could have said just to mess with a well-meaning Twitter fan ? please bear with me.

As our friends at Empire mention, the statement adds some extra weight to the final scene in The Incredible Hulk, wherein Tony Stark recruits General Ross to join the Avengers Initiative. The logical assumption was that the scene took place before Iron Man 2. But if Favreau?s comment is true, it points to an Avengers film featuring Stark, Captain America, Nick Fury, and Thor hunting down the fugitive Hulk.

However, the one new statue I want to feature today is the new Iron Man 2 statue from the Japanese company Kotobukiya. The quality of their products is matched only by Sideshow Collectibles and this new statue looks awesome

RyBi8.jpg

Photos and info come from Marvel.com. The statue measures 14" tall and will be available starting in August for $174.99 which is a great price! "With the upcoming release of Iron Man 2 in May of 2010, Kotobukiya is proud to add the Iron Man Movie Mark VI Fine Art Statue to the Marvel Studios collection! Robert Downey Jr. is reprising his role as Tony Stark with multiple new and improved armored suits, culminating in the ultimate Mark VI!" Like the previous Kotobukiya Iron Man Statues, the Mark VI includes LED lights in the eyes, chest, fists and base!

I prefer the look of the armor from the first movie, personally.

I have a bad feeling about this sequel. I think it may be like Spider-Man 3 for some reason....

I hope you are wrong then :p

You already know from the trailer that James Rhodes gets turned against Tony Stark somewhat in this film, and you probably also noticed the intense firepower that Rhodey is toting as War Machine (which we asked director Jon Favreau about at Comic Con.) Now the packaging for War Machine's action figure reveals more:

Created for James Rhodes by reverse-engineering Tony Stark's Iron Man, the War Machine armor differs from it's predecessor not only in terms of color but also possesses more destructive weapons and raw firepower.

Forced to choose between following orders and helping his friend, Rhodes must decide once and for all where his loyalties lie.

No longer powerful enough to deal with his enemies' advanced tech, Tony Stark upgrades his Iron Man Armor designs ever further to create the Mark VI Iron Man!

With a new and improved Arc Reactor both powering his armor and keeping him alive, not even the high-tech devastation caused by Whiplash and Hammer Industries can stop the Invincible Iron Man in Mark VI Armor.

Last week we showed you the first clip from Iron Man 2. And now hawk-eyed fans have spotted what might be another one of Marvel's infamous cameos. Also, there are new and disturbing-looking Iron Man 2 toys.

If you go back and watch the new clip, right around 1:18 there's an inmate getting his mugshot taken. It looks a little something like this....

According to CinemaBlend, that right there, is Thor. We can't really tell if that's Thor actor Chris Hemsworth or not, but the camera certainly does intentionally pan right over to that action. Plus Marvel loves inserting little Easter Eggs here and there for fans, so why not?

I'm guessing very few will notice. But the real cool factor will be if that is a scene from Thor and we see Stark walking by. That'd be the ultimate connection. If its just this one scene I think it'll be overlooked by many. When's Thor due again? Summer 2011?

    • Hello, Christian Maas' XVI32 is a nice (and very small) hex editor. Speaking of hex editors, many years ago a colleague and I who both worked at Tribal Voice managed to edit a copy of the company's PowWow instant messaging client to make it behave better now that all of its lookup servers and other server-side tech was gone.  The program didn't support NAT (RFC-3022 was introduced in January 2001, the same time Tribal Voice was shuttered), but it still worked okay if you manually set up port-forwarding on your router.  The server at http://powwow.jazy.net/ hosts a copy (usual warnings about downloading and running untrusted code from random internet servers apply). I occasionally use some tools like Funduc Software's Search and Replace and Application Mover when I need to make mass-edits to text-based files or move programs with a hard-coded installation directories, respectively.  When I need to figure out the exact LCD panel inside of a laptop, EnTech Taiwan's Monitor Asset Manager is my go-to tool for that purpose. JD Design's website (now hosted on github.io) has a number of interesting freeware and shareware utilities.  I used to use their TouchPro utility to set the file timestamps on software I was mastering to match its version number (e.g., version 3.00 of a program had all of its files dates set to 3:00AM, and so forth). Karenware has a number of interesting freeware utilities, too. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • I still use HexChat! Not really as ancient as the 1994 AutoCAD above my post, but I have never found anything better to replace it. Yes we still operate an IRC server https://www.neowin.net/irc/ 😛
    • At work we still have a couple of people that use a version of AutoCAD LT purchased in 1994. This predates Windows 95 and works fine on versions of Windows up to XP. Its long since run in an locked down isolated XP VM, accessible via RDP. I did install LibreCAD for them, however they said it was just too different to get to grips with. In all fairness one of them is now 75 and the other is almost 60.
    • On my music making (non internet) PC Sony Acid Pro 7.0 Adobe Audition 2015 Korg Legacy Collection Windows 7 SP1
    • Anyway to download these versions without being on the Experimental builds?
