Pinnacle PCTV 800e on leaked Windows 7 Build 6801

Recommended Posts

I have a PCTV 800e USB TV tuner that I used to use on Vista. I recently upgraded to the recently leaked build of Windows 7. Of course, the drivers for this thing are specific to the XP and Vista versions of Media Center. I tried installing them on this machine, but as it's a different version of Media Canter it simply crashes at the TV setup screen. I can easily remove the drivers at any time, though I would like to get it working somehow. Does anyone know of a way to get it to work or will I just have to wait for Pinnacle to do something about it?

I've been meaning to buy a new one for a while, as this one has become a pain... I know this isn't really where this should go, but does anyone know of any TV tuner cards that don't require a MCE-specific driver like this to work? Are there any out there? I'm looking for something that will still work when I get the final version of Windows 7...

i suggest to wait till the driver get updated for 7

7 is prebeta till this moment (doesn't worth the effort at the time being )

I'm aware it's pre-beta, but isn't this build of 7 really just for testing compatibility? Still, it may be worth it to wait... but do you know of any cards that don't require a MCE-specific driver? That would help so I don't have to wait during each release. Or at least during the Windows 7 release, as Vista drivers are supposed to work.

I should also note that as this isn't exactly the newest tuner, Pinnacle probably won't update the driver. Who knows, I may be wrong, but...
