Well, it's still April 1 here, so read this and look at this pic.

The secret is a big one, something extra special Nintendo of America decided to put into the North American version of Wind Waker. This secret is not in the Japanese version of Wind Waker to our knowledge, so if you only have the Japanese version of the title it is most likely that you will miss out on the secret.

If you thought the bonus disc with the Ocarina of Time and Master Quest was great, you?ll be glad to know this secret: The original videogame, The Legend of Zelda, which first appeared on the NES in 1987, is playable through The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker for the Nintendo GameCube. Not only that, but you can connect the Game Boy Advance to your GameCube and take The Legend of Zelda on the go!

Yes, this shocked even us at GCA, until one lucky staff member unlocked the game, and started enjoying the classic title.

We don?t have many details yet, as we just confirmed this news about twenty minutes ago. In Wind Waker, at night you will see those little circles that light up to indicate treasure. However, to find The Legend of Zelda, you have to find a one of those little circles during the day, and grab the treasure. What is strange, however, is that the spot seems to be different in each game, and it seems to change each day at random. This makes it very tricky to find, and Nintendo has done a good job of hiding the secret, because even though we have told you how to find it, it won?t be in a fixed place. It looks like once you find the game, you will be able to play the entire game exactly as it was in 1987 from beginning to end. You will also be able to save your progress via the GameCube Memory Card. (This does not use additional blocks of memory.)

The game itself appears to be unchanged from the original NES 1987 version. There are no graphical enhancements, and the sound is exactly as it was in 1987 (mono). It should be noted that on the Game Boy Advance, you can not save your progress, and the game is only available for as long as the Game Boy Advance is powered up and running.

hehe, nice one... bs of course :D

ok lets toy with the idea that maybe its not an april fool's joke.

going on that... i dont understand how you could connect a GBA and take "zelda on the go!". wouldn't that require you to disconnect the GBA from the Gamecube link cable? and then wouldn't zelda disappear? because theres no cart in the GBA...

So it's a confirmed fake:

However, a few people didn't believe us yesterday, and that was exactly what we wanted. Why? Because the first joke was really a decoy, intended to throw people off, and make them believe the joke we worked on with GameCube Caf?, to fake the discovery of the original 1987 The Legend of Zelda game being playable through Wind Waker on the GameCube. The best part of this joke, a fake image slowing Link holding a cel-shaded NES console. This image was made by GameCube Caf? staff member Matt Schraeder, and the only clue provided was in the number of rupees, 4103, or 4-1-03, which converts to April 1st, 2003, April Fools Day. In addition, website GameQUBED.com, posted the joke afterwards, helping its legitimacy factor.

    • Not such a great deal, Ultimate, which gives you full 5080 features is $181.99 CAD per month, that's $2183.88 per year, I can buy the 5080 for $1809.99 CAD, then it goes up to $279.99 per month after the first billing cycle. Typical cloud rental, costs more than buying the hardware.
    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
