I still fully understand how they synced 4 PS3s. Did they get the 4 PS3s to work together (Sony modded them) or did they just do a manual sync by doing the whole 'turn them on at the same time' thing and somehow make the controller input control all 4 PS3s?

one PS3 is master, the others get synced through the network.

essentially, 3 of them are just dumb renderboxes.

This was performed by connecting and synchronizing four Playstation 3's outputting a quarter of the image each at 1920x1080 pixels

As Hawkman said, 3 are probably just rendering image, whilst the other image and accepting controller input.

used to work for sony going from store to store telling employees about sony products and what's new. sony has much bigger plans than this... i am probably not allowed to talk about what they showed us, so i won't... but this is cool I had seen it around 3-4 months ago when i had my last sony training.

Basically, as I'm for some reason not 100% getting it, would it be possible to do this if you had 4 PS3s and that awesome projector? I don't have GT5P, so maybe there's something in the game that somehow allows this that I haven't seen.

I would guess not, and assume it was specifically changed in the code to link them together and do this however they did.

So we wouldn't be able to do it ourselves at the moment, at least I don't think we can, maybe when GT5 is out there will be some sort of option in it.
