Problems with NXE or Xbox just dying again...

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experience (or read about) any issues with the NXE update?

I received my repaired 360 back from MS on Friday, and it's worked fine until today. After the NXE update, while playing Fable II, the system locks up while in game and will not respond to the controller. Shut it down and bring it back up, and it'll work for a while. Haven't tried another game yet, and haven't tried installing the game to the HDD. Will give that a shot tomorrow, provided it doesn't RRoD before then.

I just did the NXE update on a completely working 360 and immediately after installing I got some glitching graphics. After another reboot I got a nice red quadrant on the front of the unit and error code E74 on screen. Luckily it's under warranty so going back to MS for repair...

... I refuse to believe that the NXE update didn't have anything to do with this though. There's a few sporadic reports even at this early stage of similar issues occurring.

I'm pretty sure that the problems happening on my system the day of the NXE is pure coincidence. But, still wanted to check around to see if anyone else has heard of any problems...

Truthfully, I'd be happy if it did RRoD, that way I would finally feel justified in spending some $$ and getting either a 360E or a PS3. lol

I'm having random freezes.

If I join a "party", then immediately back out, it freezes.

Also in GTA 4 I find my game freezing often (never did before).

When this happens in GTA can you hit the XBox button and do things on the Dashboard? Or is the whole system frozen/unresponsive? Sounds like we may be having the exact same problem.

i can confirm that my dashboard has froze up more than a few times since update. sometimes after awhile it will kick back in but other times i have to turn it off

I've not had it freeze outside of a game yet, may just leave the dashboard running to see what happens.

    • Oh, it's happening on more than one dialog? This is the dialog that I'm unable to interact with.

    • The level of stupidity at Google and Microsoft is beyond belief. All they are doing by killing this is forcing people to jump over to Firefox and ditch them all together, therefore giving Firefox the market boost it needs to finally crush them all in the end.
