Can I hide status updates in messenger?

I have a live messenger contact that keeps writing depressing emo crap as her status message. I see it in my contact list whether she's online or not. Is there any way to turn this off?

Mess Patch and A-Patch have an option to shut off personal messages in the contact list. Unfortunately this applies to everyone, so no selectively blocking a contact.

If her 'emo crap' annoys you that much just boot her off your contact list. :p

edit: If it's also her name that's annoying you, in WLM9 you can also set a custom nickname, like "Emo bitch."

Unfortunately, I'm using WLM 9. Doesn't look like Mess Patch works and I can't find the option to turn it off in A-Patch.

She's actually my sister so if I block her it will no doubt start world war three. I don't mind chatting to her now and again, but these messages she writes are stupid and on occasion offensive.

If she is offline, then you could simply sort your contact list by Online/Offline contacts and minimize the offline group.

At the risk of starting, as you put it, 'world war three'... tell her to stop it! Otherwise I can't think of any alternate way of doing it other than what has previously been mentioned.

Yeah, if I were you, I'd just tell her it is stupid and offensive what she puts in there. Tell her other people on her contact list will probably be thinking the same way you do ;)
