Why won't Apple let us sync out iPods/iPhones over Wi-Fi?

i dont know either. would be a very nice addition but i dont really think i would be using it too much, personally.

i really dont see why since zune has it and all...

aw, apple sometimes moves in mysterious ways... ;)

It' really a shame that you can't sync over WiFi... It's the one thing I miss about my Zune :(

Have you tried Zune lately its worth a second look they just updated it again with more free games and I noticed in the options for the games you can turn touch on and off (Might be hinting at a new model)

Maybe because the tech specs don't allow it, not sure. It seems to be a wanted feature, and they just don't seem to add it. Weird.

The Zune is awesome. I can leave it in my car, turn on the WiFi, and get all my songs, including podcasts, from a monitored folder (also absent in iTunes) auto sync'd. It's pretty dope...wish the iPods could, but hey, if you find something that fits your needs, then deal with. The Zune is a great product for music...

I've actually been considering a Zune again for a while (the Zune Pass + 10 free songs per month is very tempting as well), but I like my iPod Touch too much. :whistle: The iPod Touch has so many internet connectivity features that the Zune doesn't.

I'm sure speed is one of the prime reasons. Think about it: 802.11g maxes out at 54Mbps, but in reality usually gets far less than that (probably a little better than half of that on a good day). USB 2.0 maxes out at 480Mbps, over 9 times as fast.

Power consumption is probably another reason as well. Can you imagine the complaints Apple would get if syncing your iPod wirelessly drained half of your battery life?

I see both of those points but I can say that I leave my Zune in the car and whenever it pulls up to the house it will sync my latest tv shows that Windows Media Center Records along with anything I choose to sync in the software like podcasts so its all right if it takes awhile (which it doesnt really) but it does most its work at night

I have Media Center in the house so I dont use the Zune unless I leave to go in the car (hooked up to the cig lighter) or on a walk plus it always has the most current tv shows and I dont have to worry about forgetting it at home.

I have it on my Zune and I find it's a great feature. My dock is on the 3rd floor of my house and when I'm heading to the gym and I want to sync get a few new songs rather than get out of my car run up 3 stories and sync I can just sync from right there grab the songs and go.
