Time for a new Shift Linux team

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

For those who are interested, I have decided to step down as project manager of Shift Linux. After 2 + years of working with a great team, as well as producing many versions of Shift, I need to pass the torch to whomever wants to start the project anew.

Many thanks to all who have been involved in this great venture. It has been an incredible journey and has given me great personal satisfaction, as well as creating many, many friendships here.

Thanks to all.

Barney

Edit: After discussions with Simon360, I have given control of the Shift Linux project to him. I have complete faith in his ability to create and guide a team to a new re-birth of Shift. He has been a fantastic member of the team and I am sure that he can continue the high standards and quality that we have put into every version. Any and all changes to the project are completely fine with me.

Please support Simon, as he builds the team! Go Shift!

Thank you, Barney, for the time and work you have put into Shift, and want you to know it was appreciated. I am not a very active participator in Shift, but I do want to offer whatever I am able to do to Simon as he takes the reigns. (and, as I am in a career transition now, it will likely be even less than before) :ermm:

Always sad to see a fantastic leader leave the project :( You and I have had some good times together, and while there's a bit of a lull in the project right now, I believe that some absolutely amazing work has been done under your leadership.

I do, however, look forward to having the opportunity of developing this project further. We have a vast amount of potential to tap into at Neowin, as well as the fantastic people we already have on the team. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with you (you didn't honestly think you could just *leave*, did you? :p).

A very sad day for Shift indeed. It was great to be a part of the project all those years ago. A big big round of applause for Barney I think - he's done a fantastic job getting the recognition for Shift, and building up to where it is today.

Best of luck to Simon as well - I'm sure a great job will be done, and will be interesting to see what new blood brings.

You've done so much for Shift and been a mega great project manager! So many people owe you so much, and I want to thank you for letting me help out with the wiki and all last year! :)

Are you going to keep helping out, even though you are stepping down as project manager?

Congrats also to Simon!

    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
