Meet the Parents 3: Little Fockers

Recommended Posts

Fox News is reporting that Ben Stiller is back to developing a third film in the Meet The Parents series called Little Fockers.

“In the natural progression of things, Robert DeNiro and Blythe Danner would return as grandparents to Ben Stiller and Teri Polo’s babies. Of course, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand

would have to return as well.”

Meet the Parents was actually a pretty funny family comedy, but I found Fockers extremely painful to watch. The title is the funniest thing about the sequel. The addition of Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand just didn’t work, and I don’t think the introduction of a baby (or possible twins) will make a third film any better.

Little Fockers is Green Lit

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) ? It looks like "Little Fockers" is finally coming of age.

The long-gestating third installment of the comedy franchise, first announced two years ago, is maturing quickly at Universal Pictures -- but with new parents behind the camera.

The "Fockers" franchise, which began in 2000 with "Meet the Parents," stars Ben Stiller as Greg Focker, a liberal, do-no-right husband and Robert De Niro as his conservative, unforgiving father-in-law. "Little Fockers" is expected to revolve around the children of Greg and his wife, Pam (Teri Polo).

Stiller, De Niro and Owen Wilson are in negotiations to star in "Little Fockers." Owen, who had small parts in the first two pictures, could have an expanded role in the new film.

Jay Roach, who directed the first two films, will produce "Fockers" but not helm the picture. He's concentrating on the comic romp "Dinner for Schmucks" for DreamWorks.

Among the candidates said to be in the running to direct "Fockers" are comedy veteran Paul Weitz, who wrote and directed "In Good Company" and co-wrote and co-directed "About a Boy"; the quirky-comedy figure David Wain, writer-director of cult pic "Wet Hot American Summer" and the male-buddy hit "Role Models"; and Peyton Reed, who directed the Jim Carrey-starring "Yes Man."

John Hamburg has been brought on to write the screenplay. Hamburg is a Stiller collaborator who wrote drafts of "Meet the Parents" and 2004's "Meet the Fockers" and worked with the star on "Along Came Polly." He also wrote and directed the comedy "I Love You, Man," set for release next month via Paramount.

The "Fockers" property has provided a reliable cash infusion for Universal, with the first two pics earning more than $800 million worldwide.

Streisand And Hoffman To Return For ?Little Fockers?? Writer Says He Wants Them All Back

How do you create a follow-up to a series of comedies that grossed $846 million worldwide? In the case of the ?Meet the Parents? franchise, you pull together as many of the elements from the first two movies as you can, then pray once again to catch box office lightening in a global bottle. For audiences, that means we can expect every cast member from ?Parents? and ?Meet the Fockers? to return for the third film, ?Little Fockers.?

?I think everybody is going to be back in some capacity,? said John Hamburg, in response to our query of whether Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand would be a part of his script for the sequel. Hamburg is penning a rewrite of the ?Fockers? script after Larry Stuckey wrote an earlier version.

So when Hamburg says ?everybody,? expect everybody. That means Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, Dustin Hoffman, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo and Streisand, whose last film role was in 2004?s ?Fockers.?

At least, all those folks are Hamburg?s ideal at the moment. He?s in the middle of the writing process at this point, he told MTV News, so nothing is set in stone. ?Right now it?s up to me so right now I?m the most powerful man in Hollywood for the next three weeks,? he said. ?As I figure out how to tell the story.?

How about some plot details? Will the story really follow the lives of Stiller?s hapless nurse Greg Focker and his dutiful wife Pam (Polo) now that they have kids? How will Greg?s parents (Hoffman and Streisand) and Pam?s parents (De Niro and Danner) be involved?

?It takes place on a space station,? Hamburg joked. ?It?s obvious.?

Pretty much the only major player that won?t be returning to the franchise fold is ?Parents? and ?Fockers? director Jay Roach. Rumors have been flying about who might take over the director?s chair. Reportedly, the leading candidates include David Wain (?Role Models?), Paul Weitz (?American Pie?) and Peyton Reed (?The Break-Up?). Might Hamburg, who was in town to promote his latest directorial project, ?I Love You, Man? also be in the running?

?I can?t talk to you anymore,? said Hamburg, falling into mock Hollywood snootiness. ?I?ll tweet you later.?

Jessica Alba cast in 'Little Fockers'

Jessica Alba is the latest addition to the cast of comedy sequel Little Fockers.

The Fantastic Four actress will play a pharmaceutical worker who stirs up trouble for the male characters in Universal's Meet The Fockers follow-up.

Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo and Owen Wilson will return for the third instalment, which sees Greg Focker raising twins with his wife Pam while still attempting to win over his father-in-law Jack.

Paul Weitz (About A Boy) is directing the movie, which is scheduled to open on July 30, 2010.

OMG I swear to God I was only on about this yesterday to my brother, and I said it would great if they done another Meet The Parants and they are. I loved the other two films, cannot wait to see this one. Stiller is a fine actor who always makes me laugh, I just watched Troppic Thunder and laughed my butt off from start to finish.

P.S. Never use an iPod Touch to type out a topic on a forum, you need fingers like chopstics, otherwise you type like a retard on acid.

    • Ummmm that is what is it supposed to do. Just turn if off in settings if you do not want it analyzing your open tabs. Chrome does the same thing with Gemini. Sarfari will do the samething after Apple's AI and even more so with the release of their 27 versions that is now powered by Googles LLM/ML models. Understanding why it is doing it and how it can help you vs jumping to some conspiracy theroy is a much better approach. As long as it can be turned off, all is good. Yes the default should be off but the a lot of people would never discover these features.
    • Just another reason (aside from many others) not to use Edge. Firefox 153.0b5 DEx64 has a similar feature added recently in prior builds that I will turn off at some point when I get around to it. It's the new "Something looks suspicious" page that pops up here and there. It cleverly hides itself between web pages that I've actually visited; as a result, you know, of selecting a web page and telling the browser where to go. The interesting thing is that it does not produce these warnings from pages that I, as the only intelligent user of the browser in my system, have ever directed the browser to open! What seems to be happening is that the browser looks at all the goofy ad links on a web page I do actually open and selects one that "looks suspicious" and then creates the "something looks suspicious" web page, which is neatly inserted, as mentioned, between web pages my RB ("real brain") has directed the browser to load in a session. The thing is, I usually look at links I am considering to follow before I ask the browser to load them, and in cases I have noticed where the link does indeed look suspicious, most of the time I will choose to not follow the link at all. Doesn't everyone do this or something similar? I am picky about what I voluntarily load... (I don't like links that start off fine, with a site designaiton that seems normal enough but then is followed by indecipherable alphanumeric strings many, many lines long, etc. I tend to reject those because they look suspicious. They may not be, but I don't care... I'll stay with Firefox, of course, if for no other reason than they usually let you turn off the junk you don't like. And because it isn't Edge... But at some point Microsoft will come to realize that putting your bookmarks on the left side is a Good Thing for a lot of people, just as Microsoft discovered when it had the bright idea of nailing the Windows taskbar to the bottom of the screen, when for decades Microsoft browsers had left that placement up to the user. They have finally reversed the obscenity of that decision. Finally.
    • Google was using the old CATPCHAs data to train their LLMs. What is the say they won't use this camera data of users to train their LLM? these companies need some strict regulations!
    • Depends on what you need. Might be a bit clearer on what you plan to do with it. Sort of a waste if you get the newest and greatest, but don't know how to use it.
