Mac Users: Google or MobileMe for cloud computing?

Recommended Posts

The problem with all the google stuff is that it doesn't update over the air (apart from e-mail). You have to plug in the iPhone to sync all the data and you can't edit calendar events on the iPhone for gcal, are contacts the same?

Does MobileMe allow you to edit stuff on the iPhone itself? If it does that's a winner for me and I'd switch straight away

Yes, I put my homeworks on my iTouch and it's on my iCal

I'm currently using MM trial and I think I will keep it, I don't want to think about stuff, I don't want to loose my time on it, I want that they work from themselves.

My only grip is there no iDisk support for Windows, you need to use the Web site.

Check the App Store for MobileFiles (or MobileFile), not sure about editing but it allows you to view your iDisk contents, and maybe more.

As for editing . . . nothing beats controlling your computer from anywhere on your iPhone, and be able to view, edit, do nearly everything as if you were right in front of it.

Jaadu VNC (in the App Store as well):

And a sample YouTube vid I found (there are several):

Cool not seen any of those vnc apps in actions, it's pretty slick. But, that's not really what I was asking.

I keep my gcal and ical in sync but not being able to edit/update events or add them whilst on the iPhone is a pain. The link that Steve posted seems to have allowed alerts to travel from gcal to the iPhone which is cool. Thanks (Y)
