well thanks for the whole BIMMer mantra - but they still suck...

no, I dont misuse cars - those things were junk new and junkier when the lease was over...

I remember driving somewhere with my mother a long time ago in that god awful 850 and some idiot kid comes up to us and says, "Oh man those are my favorite cars in the world !! I hear they arent making them anymore because..." - and I said, "no - they're not making them anymore because they suck....you really need to raise your expectations"

I don't like BMW, but you are crazy, I suggest therapy :p

What is a good car then?

Other than your one lemon 850, what makes them suck? You blabbing away with nothing to stand behind it. And what do you currently drive that's so much better?

Actually no -

I liked my Expedition because it drove like a car, and hate my Titan.

But you are talking about cars/trucks I paid for and when I was younger and could have anything I wanted... those days are gone.

As far as what I think are good - my mom has an LS460 that is pretty awesome - if it wasnt a big 4-dr sedan - I would like to have it.

I just hate most BMWs - why ? because people think they are good - and I have had nothing but problems. The 850ci - an absolute joke.

my 325i - a rattle trap.

Maybe I am basing this off of a couple of lemons - I dont know. Right now I hate my Titan and everyone else says they are great trucks and everyone loves them...

I would like an M5 - but cant afford it --

My father has an Aston Martin - I think its cool - I dont know if its a "great car"

All I said is I dont like the lower-end models of ANY brand. No reason to get all upset

I'm not getting upset - I just don't understand your opinions.

You'd like an M5? Which is built in the same factory that built the 850? But what about the build quality issues you mentioned? You blast the 850 because the gear knob came off in your hand - most of them come off if you pull them up you know. It's hardly a major failure.

How many issues has your father had with his Aston Martin out of interest?

You blast the 850 because the gear knob came off in your hand - most of them come off if you pull them up you know.

Really? Most newer gear knobs I have seen are internally threaded. My old MG knob has a spring pin driven through it. God forbid I ever have to remove it; the location would make it near impossible. What does BMW use to keep it on?

If you pull almost any of them with enough force, they will come off - even the threaded ones.

Mazda uses 10MM X 1.25 thread. Danny Hodge in his prime would not be able to pull one off. Unscrew it yeah, but it is hard to overcome a large thread. What does BMW use to attach theirs?

If you pull almost any of them with enough force, they will come off - even the threaded ones.

I honestly didnt know that -

I was sitting @ a red light for a long time because of a wreck ahead of me - so when I finally was able to move ahead - I dropped the car in gear - and WHOA the whole gearshift came right out of the rest and was in my hands ! I was like "UH OH" - there were some cables/wires sticking out of the bottom - I freaked out - and to make matters worse - since I immediately hit the brakes, the stupid b*tch behind me rearended me - and knocked the rear fender/air dam off ... not my day.

The only thing running thru my mind constantly was the last thing my father said, "If you wreck it - dont come back - just keep on going - I will find you..."

As far as the Aston Martin - I honestly dont know - I havent talked to my father in a while (long story) - the last time I talked to him the car was brand new - and he was telling me about the bottom door panel having his name on it.

I'd like to tell you some cool tidbits - but I simply dont know

I was very impressed with my test drive at Birchwood BMW in Winnipeg. I haven't personally owned many cars, but I have rebuilt vehicles in the shop and I have to admit, I was impressed. The price point is definitely about spot on for the car and if I could afford it I'd jump. My only issue with it is once again the lack of 2 extra doors. I currently drive a coupe and I will never buy two doors again. I'm not sure about the long term and parts are more expensive, but it was definitely a fun car to drive, really secure handling feel and acceleration that just wouldn't let up. I'm a big BMW fan and I think my next car will be a used 3-series. (That's if I don't decide on a CSX type S)

on the gear knob bit:

i remember a girl came to the hospital to have one removed, she was showing off to her bf, when she got stuck :( so the firemen had to saw off the gear knob and take her to hospital lol

the 1 series still suxs, its basically the 3 series compact they came out with years ago (which also suxs)

Well, it's not really like the 3 series compact IMO - which was designed to be a cheaper entry level BMW. On the E36 version, they saved money by using the rear suspension and switchgear of the E30 model (as did the Z3). Not that there is anything wrong with the E30, it was just a lot less advanced than the rest of the 3 series line-up.

The 1 series was designed from the ground up as a new model to compliment the 3 series. It's as well built and shares a lot of components with the 3 series. It was also designed to be a sportier driving experience, in line with the classic models such as the 2002 and E30 - which IMO is something it achieves very well.

I do understand that the looks of the hatchback put a lot of people off. Interestingly though, having been in 1 and 3 series coupes and convertibles, there is more passenger room in the smaller 1...

    • Huh? I have an Aeron Remastered and the backrest cannot go up or down (only the lumbar is adjustable). Yes, the Doro C300 Pro V2's backrest can be locked, but the locking mechanism is so weak that when you recline and lean back the backrest moves with your body. I think the whole purpose of this chair is that all of the moving parts (except for the rocking, which can be locked in place) are supposed to move with your body, as you shift your weight, that's why I couldn't get used to it. Some people might like it though. Its redeeming factor is the price, I mean it costs like a quarter of what a new Herman MIller (Aeron) costs.
    • Well done Massie. This is how to treat the Fox News filth.
    • I notice how you dodged the questions I had about the racism shown by ignorant, gullible, cowardly people when the Poles, like your partner, were the immigrants. Ahem. I wonder how you'd feel if native born Brits suddenly treated you as "dirty crooked immigrant" for being half Trump-American? If they ordered you to leave and "go back to your corrupt country" (on the other side of the Atlantic), would you go? The truth is based on facts as supported by evidence. As requested in your previous posts, I have used the facts in your own post to show everyone the truth.
    • US citizens are paying to their government, who could use that to fund healthcare and tuition and relieve the costs of these for citizens instead of making tax breaks that overwhelmingly favor the rich. I'm not saying that tariffs are the correct solution, but what else would they be used for? What else could Trump have in mind for wanting them, if he hasn't figured out that labor costs are higher in the US?
