I'm now on my 4th Xbox 360

i think thats ridiculous. you must had abused or something. I have bought NES, SNES, gameboy, gameboy advance, DC, PS1, PS2, NDS, and PS3 and i have NEVER broken down before. (and yes, i still have those systems and all work property)

it is either you have a shi**y luck or you handle it too roughly cuz you know you still have warranty and safe to return.

I take good care of my Systems and I'm on my fifth (well I just second, but I count the repairs). Microsoft is bad about not replacing bad system with new ones. I have had one refurbished system( the first exchange), and three repairs ( the lovely refurbished system they sent me). I begged them for a new the last two times, and they just repaired mine. I wish I was smart and got a warranty where I got mine so I could have just taken it back.

I've told the tale a few times about how I went through two 360's before the third was the charm. Well, I guess the charm wore off. Today, the system started reading all games as movies and then told me I should use the disc with an Xbox 360...uh what?

Thankfully, for me, I had a Best Buy warranty so I headed down to the store and started a rather long exchange process. The outcome was really beneficial, though. I have the Core/Arcade since I was able to get a HDD for free when I first bought the system in 2007. Now, the price of the Core has dropped drastically and the exchange wouldn't have been even, so, to make it even I got a new warranty (of course) and Call of Duty 5.

Sure, it was a hassle to have to go get my 4th damn console, but I got a free game out of it. Not too bad, huh?

I found it ironic to have "Last played: Call of Duty 4" in your signature :p

It sits on my desk (I play it on my computer monitor) and all I do is play games on it. Hell, most of the time, I keep the same game in the drive for weeks because I tend to focus on one game at a time. I don't know how that would be considered abuse.

Lol. I just really wanted to play CoD4 yesterday when all of this happened, so I figured screw WaW, it can wait a few days.

I'm on my fifth Xbox 360... I have had the Three Red Lights now four times, and the sad part is I just ran out of my warranty.

COD 5 isn't out. Call of Duty: World at War is out. I don't think they were allowed to call it Call of Duty 5 cause of third one being so bad. Infinity Ward wanted Treyarch to stop making Call of Duty games altogether.

Good luck on the new Xbox 360. I predicted mine will have the Three Red Light again very soon on that I'm out of warranty...stupid Xbox..

Well most people brand it COD5, making this whole thing very confusing. I know it is COD: World At War, much like COD: Big Red One, etc etc. I also want to see COD5: Modern Warfare 2 released.

I'm still using my 1st Gen "jet fighter" it did ROD once on me but it was repaired and sent back (not replaced). Still despite all the noise it makes, been running great since it was fixed :)

I loved COD4 but COD5 is of no interests to me :/ WWI/II FPS have been done to death and I just can't stand them. Unless COD6 is set in modern (or even better, future/near future) time frame, I'll be skipping that one too.

I am too on my Day One console still, it is over 3 Years Old now! Still going strong, never had a problem with it! Only thing that does annoy me like everyone with a 1st Gen is the bloomin noise! So loud!

man you sure are scaring the heck out of me to getting a 360. We have a Wii now, for the kids mostly... But I want a dang 360.. But with all the RROD stories and people having all these problems, I really am scared to get one. At first I thought it was just 1st Gens, but nooo.. it's still happening with NEW ones, just being built!!!

In all fairness it's happening a lot less than it used to. When you buy your xbox 360 you'll have the option to purchase an extended warranty anyway.

It's definitely worth the ''risk'' of actually experiencing a RROD.

yeah see that's what kills me.. Everyone talking about their 360's dying and such.. But no one seems to think its a problem at all.. No one cares, its like ahh.. its fine, I will just get another. Now I understand that as long as you get a warranty you are fine because you will just get a replacement, but.. I mean isn't your data saved on your HD? What about the time you are down, having to wait the old one to be shipped then a new one shipped back, or whatever. I mean to me it seems like it should be more of an issue than it is? Not even given the fact that IT ISN'T OK FOR THE EXPECTED LIFE SPAN OF A CONSOLE BE 1 YR AND THEN IT DIES!!!!

Not sure about all these issues i am hearing about, I still have my original xbox360, one of the first ones released, and it works fine. it did scratch up one disk, but that is it. I am replacing it with a elite today, (need the HDMI connector since i switch TV units, and my other connections are limited). Several of my Friends still have there original Xbox360

My first console suffered its third RRoD on Monday - just as I was fighting Skorge on GoW2 - and is now sitting next to me at work waiting for UPS to collect it. MS say I'll get a new console in exchange instead of a repair this time.... am a tad weary of this but I hope I'll get a newer chipset one with a HDMI port on it.

Anyone got any experience of this exchange process? Presumably I'll actually get a refurb rather than a "new" console? Do I get a new warranty being as it's a "new" (well, to me at least) box?

Am annoyed it's going to be two more weeks before I can find out how Gears2 ends.

then you really have a bad luck :D

I completely agree. Its really surreal that people accept these issues. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

Consumers these days, thats terrible letting these companies get away with ripping you off. I wouldn't have tolerated 2 broken products let alone 4 or 5. Speak with your wallet and stop buying their junk. I would have sent my third broken 360 in with a big F U note and never buy their crap again.

What are you/we going to do about it?

Just not play the consoles? Unfortunately there's not much we can do about it, people forget that consoles these days are MUCH different than before, they have so many moving parts.

It's like people going to HP after buying a Pavilion and having it for 2 years without buying any warranty and giving HP **** for the machine dying. They'll just laugh at you because that's how technology is. More moving parts means that it has a higher chance of hardware failure, unfortunately that's where the extra money for warranties comes in, you can't just demand that a product work.

    • Why say “Retarded” then? Lol
    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
