I'm now on my 4th Xbox 360

Like they sold the PS2 broken for 7 years? Ok

Even if that were true, which it isn't, how is that relevant to this thread? Thats like telling someone who doesn't like Vista that OS X used to suck 6 years ago, what difference does it make now? None. The Wii and PS3 have excellent track records for their hardware thus far and then theres also PC gaming. Consumers should be sending a message to companies selling crappy hardware otherwise whats to stop them from doing again next time?

to the OP, perhaps time to give up?

Give up and do what? It hasn't cost me anything to replace the console so many times and it's definitely not cheaper to buy a competing console and build up a library of games on it.

Well I'm glad you didn't have to pay for it all.

After the FIRST one broke, I would have bought something else. lol

It's like every thread I read here it's - "Well I'm on my 5th 360" or "I'm on my 3rd 360, my last one broke yesterday".

I mean .. wtf? lol

Maybe it was worth the PS3 price after all? :p

man you sure are scaring the heck out of me to getting a 360. We have a Wii now, for the kids mostly... But I want a dang 360.. But with all the RROD stories and people having all these problems, I really am scared to get one. At first I thought it was just 1st Gens, but nooo.. it's still happening with NEW ones, just being built!!!

Exactly. Hearing stories like this makes me very cautious about buying a 360. I don't see how people are okay with their console breaking so often, even if they have a warranty.

I'm on my third console. It's pretty frustrating but 360 has the best games library that's why I haven't given up with it. Seeing as the problem has a free 3 year warranty where they pay for the postage, I don't think it's a huge problem.

You are on your 3rd console and its pretty frustrating yet you keep accepting it? Who cares if they replace it free? So they should and you shouldn't have to go weeks without the console you paid for every couple of months. You don't think thats ridiculous whatsoever?

As for libraries this gen there are very few exclusives, the PS3 and 360 have nearly identical libraries, according to this thread the PS3 has a greater amount of highly rated games over the past year anyway.

I just find it a bit ridiculous hearing people say they are on their fourth or fifth console, if thats not enough to make you put your foot down then what is? Maybe next gen microsoft will make a console that literally spits on your face when you press eject. I bet people will still say, "oh whatever microsoft said they will ship me free bibs".

I'm on my 4th 360 too. While Microsoft are pretty good these days at replacing dodgy units I took the decision when 360 number 3 died that I wasn't willing to plough any more cash into the 360.

These days the PS3 is my 'main' console, I still by the occasional game on 360, but only tend to get the really good exclusive games (I've only bought Fable 2 and Gears 2 recently). Everything else is PS3 for me these days (i've got 41 games for it now) and its my preferred console.

Actually it is true (Y)

And it just shows your biased attitude when it comes to Sony. It was ok for them to sell a broken piece of hardware and then charge ridiculous amounts for repairs (which looks like they are still doing today for the PS3!).

The Wii also has a pretty bad record if you bothered to actually read about the problems. It has worse DVD drives than the 360!

So its ok for them to sell broken hardware and you will just keep accepting it? Ok

No, but it's not exactly easy to shell out on a brand new console when you can get your current one replaced for a small fee at most.

Get it replaced or give up. If you give up then it's your fault and you're gonna have to pay even more money for a new console.

The Wii also has a pretty bad record if you bothered to actually read about the problems. It has worse DVD drives than the 360!

And the sensor bar issues. My brother had to replace his sensor bar 3 times.

After 3 360s I gave up on mine and I do not plan on getting another one I had had only bad experience with all of mine so I am not going back stickig to my computer and wii for a whole I guess

Seems like I have golden luck when it comes to consoles.

Not one of my consoles, right back to the day I started gaming has broke on me

In fact, just earlier tonight I whipped out my old purchased 4 month after launch fat PS2 for some RPG love (it's what, 7-8 years old now?). Completing Persona 3 FES right now.

My PS1 still worked as of about 4~5 months ago, although its been back in the box since then. Looks a bit tattered, but ran fine.

And obviously my 360 is still working, just over a year old now.

PS3 is fine as well, along with Wii, PSP and DS :D

I don't have my Master System/Mega Drive/Game Gear any more, but they were all sold working.

  • 2 weeks later...

So...the wireless controller that came with the new unit decided it wasn't going to report my battery level properly thus resulting in me being unable to charge via the play n charge kit. The battery was dead, but as soon as I plugged in the cable, the light turned green and the dashboard reported it at 3 bars. I took out my older wireless controller and the battery is now charging correctly. What the hell is wrong with my luck?

What are you doing that makes you buy new ones? I'm still on my first one for almost a year and never had any problems with it. Infact my old xbox (classic one) still works.

LOOK AFTER YOUR THINGS AND THEY WILL LAST LONGER THEN!

Yeah, bangbang recently sent me some shocking videos of him tying his 360 to the back of his car and driving at 85mph to work.

He says it's the most efficient way to get his 360 around, but you're right it must be damaging it a little, he should think of another way to do it (Y)

Unlucky on the controller battery dude, no idea why it was dead out the box.

I always take extra care of my stuff, bought a Pro HDMI version which i barely used and 10 months later it gave me the RRoD so i call that "unreliability"

I am on my Second 360 now and so far has been good, i gave it to my step daughter and she put some abuse on it now but the thing has survived so far.

I have a launch console and it's still kicking. Although it has RRoD'd twice, but I was able to revive it both times. First time, X-Clamp, and second time, baking the motherboard in the oven for a bit.

While it is pretty unreliable like that, most of the time it can be fixed by yourself.

i thought people were joking about that method lol :) that's crazy!

    • Why say “Retarded” then? Lol
    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
