[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! I'm new to the anime thread and I was wondering what Neowin could recommend I watch next as I am completely out of ideas.

I just took a break from TF2 and WoW for a week and managed to squeeze Hellsing, all three seasons of Zero no Tsukaima, and DearS all into my schedule. Recently I've also seen Chobits and Mahou Sensei Negima. Glad to say I enjoyed every one of them.

Hellsing I enjoyed the most I must say. It was really...unique, in a good way. Infact it has to be one of the best animes I've seen in a long time. I don't really expect anything to match it.

Other series' I've seen are Trigun, Dragonball, DBZ, most of Naruto, Ghost in the Shell, Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, and Bobobo-bo bo-bobo.

I normally prefer subbed versions as the voices are often done more professionally, plus it helps me learn Japanese. Normally my only exception would be if the dub was done by FUNimation.

Hellsing or Hellsing Ultimate? If you haven't watched one or the other I suggest watching both. They're incredibly awesome.

^Correct. I'm thinking about re-watching the Hellsing series again.

@Recon415: All dubs are as bad in my ears :p Anime with Japanese audio and English subs are a must for anime. Click the "MyAnimeList" link in my signature. I'm sure there are a few series in my list that you might like :)

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is going to be kicked off today, so is Shangri-La and Dragonball Kai. Is there any other new anime that's going to be kicked off today?

Yeah I've watched them both. Hellsing Ultimate was by far superior however and I really wish they'd get a move-on on the 6th.

Yes some dubs are bad but Hellsing ONLY works in English.

You mean English subs right? Because the Japanese voices are pretty good imo.

I've got the Appleseed: Ex Machine DVD which doesn't even have Japanese voices! :| So I thought I was being forced to see it with English dubs. Luckely, a friend of mine bought the correct version so I could still watch it with Japanese voices and English subs. I'm still going to buy the correct version though, I just can't stand watching anime with English dubs.

Not for Hellsing hell they got atleast two British people for the Hellsing Dub.

I just finished watching the new FMA and I'm not quite sure what to think of it. I recognize characters and stuff from the original but again..kind of seems to start out half way through a story that already started elsewhere.

Yeah, the first episode was original and not from the manga so it's a little out of place. Hopefully they stick to the manga from now on.

Also the new OP is awsum.

I just got time to watch shangri-la & queens blade. I think I'm going to like shangri-la only one question though, Where the hell she's going to put that boomerang I wonder (which is driving me crazy :iiam: :shifty:

Also queens blade was mmm how should I put it. :bounce: :uberhump:

Episode one of Queen's Blade was awesome absolutely beautiful fights and what not.

Ah, so it wasn't because of the prominent female anatomy on show which exploded, shot acid occasionally and what not

Radish?

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
