[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

I've been thinking of watching FMA but I kinda don't want to have to watch 51 episodes of FMA. I remembering reading on this topic that the first 15 episodes of FMA:B is the same as FMA (or something along this line). So if I just start with FMA:B will I be missing much?

new(?) bleach is out.

if you mean the anime, yep it is

EDIT: Just watched the new episode. It was pretty good. Ikkaku's and Houzukimaru's lucky dance is simply hilarious!

@rustix: Start with FMA: B and afterwards decide if you want to see FMA :p

Cool. Thanks! :)

Why do they randomly put up pictures and say Full Metal Alchemist in an american voice?

I've stumbled upon a Wikipedia page several times which explained these scenes. I forgot what these scenes where called and why some animes have them and why some don't. They're always seen in between the 1st and 2nd half of an episode so that's one function they serve for. In FMA:B it shows which characters are important during the story of the running episode.

its there for the commerical breaks as well. i thought that those fma announcements where sort of old school gamey' but they make me laugh' and i cant help but say it with the voice lol. ill be watching bleach when i get home' as it was released just as i was going to work.

Any anime/manga similar to Matrix (movie)?

Matrix was inspired by Ghost in the Shell and Akira. You might also want to check out Animatrix if you haven't had the opportunity to.

On top of all that, these might interest you:

Gantz (similar to the Matrix in terms of being plugged in)

Ergo Proxy

Texhnolyze

Yes i've seen Animatrix i was looking for animes/mangas much like the movie, so thanks for the suggestions, i'll check them out! :)

Is there any type like "metal gear solid" too?

Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell... I can't repeat it enough. :p

Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade

Appleseed

Flag

Anime that share only a few themes with MSG but were decent:

Monster (one of the best anime storylines that involves police, medical mystery and some psychological horror/drama)

Armitage III (often cheesy)

Blue Gender (against Aliens though >_>, fairly enjoyable in my opinion)

New Naruto Manga has been released early this week :) Amazing turn of events, though this chapter seemed sooo short.

Anyone seen the movie Sky Blue? If so is it any good?

Seems interesting. Like appleseed mixed with matrix.....

Lol i remember watching this anime(it might as well be an hentai)

Manga > Anime... then again, the manga is basically the perfect example of clicheed "mature" themes in the genre of anime. Sex, violence, drugs and psychological drama.

I watched about 12 episodes of Ghost in the shell but I didn't find it very appealing

Watch Ghost in the Shell (the movie) first. In fact, watch that and GiTS: Innocence first. You'll then see how intricate and absolutely stunning the visuals and overall atmosphere are in both movies.

It's decent. The animation is top notch. It's better than 99% of all anime out there. Its real name is "Wonderful Days". I would say the story's quality is on par with Final Fantasy Advent Children.

Good twist on this weeks Naruto, but all the "Sasuke is reaaaaally gonna die ... oh wait ... no !" going on is getting quite boring. I'm sure in 10 chapters, when someone will finally break his Susanoo, he'll end up actually having something even stronger :/ He just can't loose ...

This also counts for the series to be honest. Not AS stunning but still.. it has great visuals. It also has this typical GiTS atmoshpere; the deeper meaning behind things which are happening and the vibe going through each episode.

But yeah, if you want to get into GiTS, watch the movies before the series. You'll understand what GiTS is actually about during the movies, which then can be seen in the series at a somewhat lower level, but still interesting and sometimes hard to understand. Oh, and don't forget to watch Tachikoma Days after each episode, they'll explain important things for you

A totally different subject; FMA:B. I talked about it with a classmate and was wondering how long the series would be. He thought that it would be as long as the manga, which is obviously still ongoing. What do you guys thing? Anime News Network is showing is a list for 38 episodes with 26 real titles. It would be awesome if they're really going to put every manga issue in the anime series.

Story is good but has a bit left to be desired. The animation however is superb, especially the vehicles and backdrops/environment.

    • Still 3x what it should cost. So, it seems the trick is to increase price by 6x so that a reduction in price back to 4x looks like a steal. "You savvy shoppers win again!" I'm glad I'm not in a desperate spot to actually even need this overpriced crap. Hopefully, it comes back down by the time for when (or if) I ever do.

    • Microsoft wants to end printer driver headaches with Windows Ready Print by Usama Jawad A few days ago, Microsoft released Windows 11 Experimental build 26300.8553, bringing a ton of enhancements such as Start menu customization, search improvements, Taskbar polish, and other minor UI tweaks. Another relatively major enhancement snuck deep within the change log was related to upgrades to the Windows printing experience. Now, Microsoft has shared more details about these benefits. For starters, Microsoft has renamed its Modern Print Platform to Windows Ready Print. The company believes that this name highlights its shift in strategy, which now focuses on modernizing, securing, and streamlining the printing experience for Windows devices. Some of the upgrades present in Windows Ready Print have already been seeded to customers and partners. This includes ending support for third-party printer drivers via Windows Update and transitioning towards the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and the native Windows IPP printer driver. In line with these changes, new printer installations will default to Windows Ready Print on eligible devices starting from July 2026. However, Microsoft recognizes that not all environments will be able to migrate to this platform immediately, so it will allow users to choose between installing the printer via Windows Ready Print or the traditional OEM process. Users will be able to toggle this configuration through Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Printer preferences. This control applies only to new printer installations, and its functionality can also be modified via Group Policy as follows: Launch Group Policy Editor Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Printers Find and select 'Configure Windows Ready Print driver ranking' -> double click to open it Select 'Enabled' (if you wish to enable Windows Ready Print driver selection) or 'Disabled' (if you wish to explicitly disable Windows Ready Print driver selection). Select Apply Select OK Similarly, if you set up Windows protected print mode through the same setting in Windows 11, it will also default to using Windows Ready Print exclusively. Microsoft hopes that these improvements will help eradicate dependency on OEM-specific driver installation processes and simplify printer installations. We'll likely find out more about other tangible benefits in the coming months.
