[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

Sure milking can be bad but FMA:B.. is it really that bad? As long as I love a story line or whatever, it doesn't matter to me how many times it's been made. It's hard to be original these days with everything anyways. The things you've summed up can be seen in almost every anime, manga, comic, cartoon, movie, soap, drama etc.

Meh, I just don't see what the big deal is.

They can wh_re themselves out on merchandise and whatnot with FMA:B.

That is as long as they keep the current pace of the series the same.

The progress of the story line doesn't seem too slow or too fast to me.

With many mainstream shows it seems obvious that they do not want to progress the story line, but I don't get that with FMA:B

That is messed up. Hentai isn't creepy but when people buy pillows and cushions with girls printed on them whether they are animated or real, it crosses the line to being a creepy otaku. >_>

Indeed, it's something I just can't comprehend :ermm:

Radish?

What's wrong with making something look prettier?

my little collection.

Nothing, it's your life choice. For me personally, a real female to cuddle like a pillow is excessively win and they hug you back! (Y)

On a different note, would anyone recommend Cromartie High School to those who have watched Great Teacher Onizuka? Somewhat similar, so it got me interested :)

Radish?

What the.. this is totally going into the wrong direction now o.O

Anyways, I'll be starting Honey and Clover II in a bit. Could someone recommend me an anime similar to this?

Radish™

The series is only around 13 minutes per each episode. If you understand Japanese culture and are quite well versed in Shounen manga and anime, then it's the perfect anime/manga for you. I couldn't understand much of it since there were many references to 90's anime. It's one of the more intelligent parodies based around high school culture.

I would recommend Lamune (very touchy feely - 6/10), True Tears (early high school drama with amazing yet bland animation - 7/10) and Kimikiss ~ Pure Rouge (6/10).

^ I only know those "harem" anime series because I was still a noob and watching whatever connected to the most popular anime such as Clannad, Kanon and Ef~A Tale of Melodies when I had no clue that there were distinct sub genres that pushed stereotypes to the limit and beyond.

What I recommend as a light romance mixed with heavy character interaction and war is Gunparade March. It's a rare piece of work. I still am scarred by one of the touching scenes. *shudders at the reminiscence*

Oddly enough she did not watch it because it was sports (she is not a fan of sports) she watched it because she saw an ad for it on Hulu :p

Currently I am taking her Through Ghost in the Shell (SAC and Second Gig)

Right up my alley (Y)

True Tears (early high school drama with amazing yet bland animation - 7/10) and Kimikiss ~ Pure Rouge (6/10).

Out of the two, I enjoyed True Tears more.

could someone recommend a really good comedy for me to watch?

Action/Comedy/Drama - Full Metal Panic! (first season and Fumoffu!; third season gets rather dark)

Dark/parody - Sayanora Zetsubou Sensei

Slapstick/Shounen/Ecchi - Golden Boy

Shoujo - Ouran High School Host Club

Epic (number of episodes) - Gintama

WTH?! - Furi Kuri

Explicit - Detroit Metal City

Overall - Great Teacher Onizuka + Full Metal Panic!

Must watch immediately for all anime fans - Great Teacher Onizuka, Full Metal Panic! and Detroit Metal City

Detroit Metal City made me realize how much anime can differ from the googley eyed, semi naked women it usually offers. It's explicit, hilarious and made me lol too many times to count.

    • It is silly there is no simple way to check whether this profile has been activated. CFRs are normal, but trying to even hide the fact if it's on / off seems silly, especially for something so user-facing. Surely Microsoft is "proud" of their engineering efforts on this one and ought to display it somwhere in the GUI.
    • Many Linux distros are not known for excellent battery life, so I'm not sure that is the best example. A more apt example may be Apple, but Apple's CPUs are simply far more efficient than Intel & AMD at single-threaded tasks like these, so "boosting" is not as power-hungry and less heat-inducing. Not to mention Apple will hardly engage P-cores for basic UI tasks; they use a pretty complicated QoS scheme to only activate P-cores for more serious workloads like HTML / JS execution or decompression or application launch. Microsoft is (smartly) doing it for launch, but also for UI tasks, which is the more nonsensical part: why ... do Windows 11's UIs need modern CPUs to boost? It should load so quickly that there's not even time for the CPU to boost.
    • I've not seen any controlled testing and, judging by Microsoft's mentality, within a year, they'll have added so much more bloat, it'll undo any perceptible latency benefit and we'll have boosted the CPU clocks for nothing.
    • It depends: heat soak is a thing. Initially on cold boot-up, the heatsinks & heatpipes are at ambient temp. After heatsinks & heatpipes warm up (through normal usage), they don't immediately cool to ambient temp when the load goes away. So their baseline is higher and the trigger point for fans is much less stress. Add a few more CPU spikes → it's too hot to stay at the same fan RPM → fans get triggered to start up up much sooner / get triggered to ramp much more quickly.
    • Can LibreOffice just shut up and worry about themselves and stop comparing themselves? Do we see Microsoft complaining about euro office?
