[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

what do you mean shoddy camera work that was some of the best racing shots ever.

Freeze-framing, speeding up shots and to top it off, bad CG (N) I'll stick with the anime.

Radish?

we must have been watching different movies because it was pretty much top notch an awesome follow on from freeway speedway.

Freeway Speedway is in a different class for me compared to the Initial D film, the action is raw and keeps you on the edge of your seat with the stunts. The Initial D film feels very watered-down in terms of character development and action compared to the anime, granted it's condensed into a film but still.

Radish?

Was watching Kuchu Buranko and I saw this small advert that I'm thinking [gg] left in for the lulz

Radish?

From gg:

THINGS WE LIKE DOING IN FANSUBBING

- Leaving in advertisements (To promote buying merchandise to support the anime industry? or something)

They always do it.

First time I've noticed it :)

That's the least that they can do since fansub groups essentially take raw copyrighted videos from Japan and add subs to them. ;)

Hurray for unlicensed anime! (and the dark sides of the interwebs )

Would that do anything for them since 90% of people who download them can't buy anything in Japan anyways really?

All I can say about the matter is that I'm amazed at what lengths fansub groups go to for providing subtitles to a Japanese animated tv series. The time and effort required makes me wonder what these guys do in the offline world and how they feel about it personally.

However, as a consumer, I definitely am not complaining at the availability and convenience of the fansub groups' works.

I found a interesting link to a website dedicated to the history of fansubbing.

well most of them still go to school/college most of the time and rest is spent bitching in IRC.

Watching Grave of the Fireflies for the first time and I'm realizing that I won't be feeling good for the next few days... **** war.

Indeed, one of those masterpieces that can only be watched once to be burned into your memory.

From something I remember, it technically isn't illegal so long as you plan on purchasing them IF they come to the united states (and the fact that anime is a rip of the broadcast usually, so it is really no different than distributing a home recording). Downloading anime only becomes illegal when it becomes licensed in your country for production.

yeah back in the old days most if not all subbing groups would drop shows when they got licensed im not too sure of the ethical code of groups these days but there is a messy clause which makes it ok to sub unlicensed shows up till they are at least there was.

also you can support the show without buying the original DVD/blu-ray even if the show isn't out in your country and that's via the second market.

I just tried watching K-ON! due to its popularity and ratings it received then proceeded to permanently delete it from my hard drive. Fan service ("cutesy voices and clumsiness) and lolicon (female middle school students with plenty of "interest shots" of body parts when they fall over accidentally) galoooooore. No, I do not want to know what female middle school students do and act like. One of the most annoying things about anime in general is when a tv series gets a mature vocie actor to act out animals and small children. It's quite creepy.

    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.

    • There really isn't anything magical about the low latency profile, other OS's do this as well. All they're doing is using your CPUs boost clock options in a more smarter way.
    • So we shouldn't have the option because of people using their laptops on battery? OK? LOL
