Haven't finished Code Geass yet though I think it's already save to say that Eureka Seven is way better. You're right with Gundam SEED being a good recommendation for people who liked Code Geass. Though with Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann you should also brace them for the amount of humour it comes with :p

Having said that, you might also want to check out RahXephon and Neon Genesis Evangelion which has drama and mecha mixed really well with eachother. Though both of these anime aren't as light as Code Geass story wise.

I'm sure I recommended this particular anime series several times before but I have to again. Anyone who's interested in watching an anime series that looks like a cross between the tragic figures in Neon Genesis Evangelion and the drama of Code Geass and Gundam Seed MUST check out Infinite Ryvius. It's quite entertaining. It's Lord of the Flies on a space ship.

TTGL had humor? I didn't find anything funny in that anime series. All I saw was a kid with a huge crush on an "innocent" girl who dresses in a skimpy bikini while his idiot older brother pretends to run the show. Later on in the show, the innocent kid gets flamed even though his brother was to blame for every stupid action taken by the small group of rebels. The story then manages to fit in a huge titanic ship-torso-monstrosity then turn into a story that came from the typical teenage drama mecha playbook while the kid gets flamed again. The most generous praise I can give it is that it's FLCL meets Code Geass. Even the protagonist of FLCL is the EXACT same character of TTGL.

That's an expensive hobby. :p Do the figures depreciate in value over time or do they actually become a rare collector's item as years progress? I know dolls, made from porcelain and other materials, from famous artists or sculptors fetch ten's of thousands of dollars as it becomes rarer.

To me it's an anime to watch with your brain switched off. I had quite a few laughs so far while watching the anime and I'm sure I'll have loads more.

That's true. *starts to count the endless number of anime and manga I could have enjoyed if I didn't take them seriously* However, I did laugh myself to tears when I enabled the joke subs for the last few episodes. It was too funny. :p

I just found out that FMA: Brotherhood is ending with 63 episodes. Does this also mean the manga's ending coincides with it too? *hopes for an Edward - Winry relationship*

I kinda thought you watched it with a serious mindset. Though I already knew with the way the anime looked that I was in for quite some laughs :p

..and I might add that episode #2 broke away from the typical Marvel story line if you ask me. It's now a typical BONES anime which I hoped for right from the start. Really starting to like this anime more and more :)

I just played my first visual novel, Tsukihime, for the first time. I had no interest in its adult content and was only curious because of its rave reviews and its basis on one of my favorite anime characters of all time, Arcueid. She's the only few female protagonists in an anime series that isn't depicted in any fan service scene. The mature character is a rare gem to come across in the anime world.

After finishing my first visual novel experience, I have to say it's one of the most overrated type of game or work I have across as an anime/manga fan. The gameplay essentially can be reduced to a text file scrolling across the screen with each key press with a once in a blue moon player choice that only deviates from good and true endings for the female protagonists. Images of each character is served in the background with a handful of different expressions. Music is provided but is limited, which results in an annoying repetition that does not provide any depth or atmosphere except to prevent dead noise.

5/10 (Average experience. Even though it is the source material for the anime, it only served as a complement to the anime experience since I thought that the true ending with Arcueid was the most appropriate and realistic.)

Maybe the original Japanese emotional scenes had tremendous writing but the English translation made me feel like I was reading something out of a high school level/ university freshman essay. The vocabulary never captured the punctuation the author wanted and the delivery felt like I was reading the synopsis of what the vampire world was supposed to be like. It was as if the characters were just vehicles to discuss the synopsis. The artwork was subpar. Even though I'm not a talented artist, I can draw well enough to make better sketches and drawings than what is presented in the visual novel.

Do not mistake my opinion and harsh criticism as my dislike for the whole story and cast. I actually enjoyed them and they were the only reason why I played the visual novel. I am only stating my bewilderment regarding the popularity of visual novels as a vehicle for good story narration.

Thank gawd I watched the anime series and enjoyed the characters and plot twists despite the typical vampire story. :)

Here's to hoping the manga will match or even surpass the anime.

Should I check out Fate Stay Night (visual novel)? I couldn't get myself to watch the anime due to horrific voice acting. SAYYYBAAAAHHHH!!!!

That's weird. I greatly enjoyed the anime series. In fact, the soundtrack is one of my favorites out of all the anime series I have watched. I like the voice actor behind Arcueid too. :3

Anyways, should I check out FSN since the visual novel seems more popular than Tsukihime?

The OST was so intense and brought up the best emotions for each scene. The piano and voilin are simply EXQUISITE! Example:

Just for the sake posting. Shingetsutan Tsukihime is a must watch for any fantasy anime fan. One of my top 10 favorites. :)
