There was a 76-episode anime before the sequel/film you watched, which is directly adapted from the manga

I did know that. I think that the movie is a good benchmark of whether I should pick up the anime series. When I calculate it all (76 episodes x 26 minutes each, which only cover about 2/5 of the manga material), it isn't worth it. It's not my cup of tea to watch shows like it. After being exposed to Dragon Ball (when I watched Toonami show on Cartoon Network in the early 2000's), I realized that I will never ever watch a show that uses excessive use of screams and shouts that sound completely inappropriate when simply listened to. I blazed through the 70+ volume manga series with ease since I read it at my own comfortable pace (3-6 volumes/hr or 600-1200 pages/hr with the exception of series that depend on complex dialogue and references, such as Ghost in the Shell).

Despite the weird title, it has nothing to do with the content of this psychedelic anime short. 14 minutes of hectic, electronica rush that make you feel like you're on a roller coaster. This is what happens when you put Akira, animators on drugs (Studio 4C) and abstract art into a blender and add in a pinch of fast paced electronic music.

8/10 (Amazing)

Studio 4C was behind Tekkon no Kinkreet, Mind Game, Steamboy, Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight and Halo Legends.

I'd say it's more a case of him not wanting to go into the kyuubi form (btw Jinchuuriki is the name given to the host of the tailed beast, not the name of the form :)) after he hurt Sakura during the fight against Orochimaru. It was after that incident did he decide to device a new jutsu and hence coming up with the rasen-shuriken. Also in the more recent manga chapter Naruto is trying to get Killer Bee to teach him how to control the kyuubi :D

Oh your right it is kyuubi form

The problem with rasen-shuriken is that he can't use that either because it injures him so badly.

I'm sure later on he'll figure something out, I'm not sure because I don't read manga :p

Oh in that case you're in for a treat in the coming few weeks

You posting "I enjoyed the manga series and since it was not an anime series" implied (well, to me anyway) that you didn't know. Anyway IMO, it's better to start an anime series from the beginning and then drop it for various reasons, rather than diving in with a continuing OVA/special as you have to mesh the plot together from scratch.

I'll definitely be checking out the anime series but I am very skeptical since it has to be quite exceptional to convince me to sit down and watch all 76 episodes. It is one of the highest rated anime series on MAL.

 You're right. I was going to let you finish but I think I am completely righ- ALL GLORY TO RADISHTM!

This was my reaction while I watched the first episode of the 76 episode anime series:

 Typical shounen weak willed protagonist voice acting...

 Wow, the boxing sempai is amazing and his character is quite badass.

:o OMG! Did YOU JUST SEE THAT?! That's classic 90's cool right there! The smooth yet nostalgic type of animation I love!

:woot: I want to watch the second episode RIGHT NOW! BOCKSHINGOU!!! (how the characters pronounce "boxing")

Note: I love 90's animation that have that hand sketched feel. (It explains why I have a soft spot for Kare Kano and anime with a similar animation style.)

PS: If my meme-tastic post bothers you, feel free to rage and send me an angry PM to knock it off.

Finally finished GTO. What a show. The amount of times I was literally falling off my chair from laughter... I have to say, I had my doubts about the show beforehand. But Mr Onizuka pleasantly surprised me.

Also, I may take up your offer on reading the manga Masked Forever. How long do you think it will take to finish?

Depends on your reading speed. I read it once over (focused only on the dialogue and immediately apparent visuals) then read it again a few months later at a leisurely pace. I would say that for a person who's not used to reading manga that often, it should take around him/her to read one volume in the span of one anime episode therefore it should take you at a pace of 2 volumes per hour.

TL;DR: Around 10-14 hours of reading. The manga is an extended version of the GTO with some differences so make sure you read it from the first volume. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

added the anime to my "plan to watch"

Be careful. It's similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion in terms of character flaws. The violence is off the charts.

/shudders as I remember the manga series

I've heard of cafes with anime themes but niche supermarkets? I wonder how the store will do financially as it relies on Eva as a marketing tool.

GTO was great. I was upset when it ended... Turns out the manga kept on going for much longer than the anime...

Just checked out a couple reviews of that show and it looks really good.

I think I need to watch a funny show like that next :p

Is there any other plotline other than he wants to be a good teacher?

Yeh, I'm not the biggest fan of open endings. And the fact that the manga lasted longer has only made me want to read it more.

Well it has it's little background storylines but overall it involves Onizuka teaching his class lessons (a particular person or group) on life and stuff... and the shenanigans these involve.

If you like crude humor, read the manga. The prequels (which is almost completely translated :woot:) highlight Onizuka's life as a teenage delinquent with his best friend, who's the mechanic in GTO.

Not so awesome after being caved in by the horde of otaku

Not at all  Glad to read that my advice helped (Y)

Take with a pinch of salt, from Wikipedia ....

Currently, Initial D Fifth Stage is not yet released but is running on the Manga series, but Kodansha said, it will be in late 2011.

Welcome news nonetheless :D

So, I guess I?ll take a stab at a review.

Toaru Majutsu no Index

vsmedios-to-aru-majutsu-no-index-main.jpg

Status: Halted(waiting for more source material)

The plot:?Toaru Majutsu no Index is set in Academy City, a technologically advanced Academic city located at western Tokyo which studies scientifically advanced superhuman students with powers, but is also set in a world where magic is also real. Tōma Kamijō is a student in Academy City whose right hand, the Imagine Breaker, has the ability to negate all magic and psychic powers, but also his own luck. One day he finds a young girl hanging on his balcony railing named Index. She is a nun from Necessarius, the secret magic branch of the Church of England, and her mind has been implanted with the Index Librorum Prohibitorum?103,000 forbidden magical books the Church has removed from circulation.?

The plot seems to jump around a lot. 2 or 3 episodes will concentrate on one thing, and then in the next episode, something completely different. But, some of the plots are really intriguing at times.

This may have been the suber?s fault, the anime?s fault, the source material?s fault, or my own fault for not holding a degree in physics, but at times the language was a bit cumbersome. At times, it felt like conversations were just going right over my head.

So, in the end, it?s a series with a lot of potential that could be really good if they just got a solid plot going. I?m interested enough to watch a second season, but not enough to watch its spin-off Toaru Kagaku no Railgu.

Also, just a warning, there is a moderate amount of pandering to lolicons, so if your easily offended by that, avoid this one.

Overall: 7/10

    • Apple is expanding Private Cloud Compute beyond its own data centers by Pradeep Viswanathan At WWDC 2026, as part of the improved Apple Intelligence capabilities, Apple today announced that it is expanding Private Cloud Compute (PCC), its privacy-focused cloud infrastructure for Apple Intelligence, beyond its own data centers for the first time. Private Cloud Compute was designed to handle Apple Intelligence requests that are too complex to run fully on-device. The PCC system does not store user data and does not allow Apple or anyone else to access user requests. Last year, Apple also expanded its Security Bounty program with rewards of up to $1 million for researchers who could find serious vulnerabilities in PCC. Until now, Apple's PCC data centers were using Apple's own silicon. As part of the expansion, Apple is working with Google and NVIDIA to run new Apple Intelligence workloads on Google Cloud systems powered by NVIDIA GPUs. Apple will be using this new infrastructure to execute more demanding AI tasks while maintaining the same privacy and security guarantees of PCC. The new implementation uses NVIDIA Confidential Computing with NVIDIA GPUs, Intel CPUs with TDX, and Google’s Titan chip. Apple says it has worked with Google to build additional protections beyond a traditional confidential computing deployment. Despite the expansion to third-party data centers, Apple claims that its core PCC requirements remain unchanged, including stateless computation, no privileged runtime access, non-targetability, and verifiable transparency. The company highlighted that it will continue to control the PCC software stack, and Apple devices will only trust PCC software that has been cryptographically approved by Apple. To take security to the next level, Apple mentioned that it is maintaining an append-only ledger of Google Cloud hardware that is part of the PCC fleet. The company claims this will help reduce the risk of supply chain attacks. In addition to AI infrastructure, Apple also worked with Google to use technologies behind the Gemini family of models to build the next generation of Apple Foundation Models to power Apple Intelligence features across on-device and cloud workloads. As expected, for more demanding AI tasks like agentic tool use and complex reasoning, Apple will rely on the expanded PCC infrastructure running on Google Cloud. The expansion of PCC on Google Cloud will gradually ramp toward the full set of protections during the summer preview period. As before, Apple will also publish binaries for public inspection, provide research tooling, and give researchers access to live PCC nodes in research mode through the Apple Security Bounty Program.
    • my problem with outlook (new) is that it connects only to outlook.com. all connections to external providers goes through there. Got your mail server and want to use imap directly? no way... it adds a connector on outlook.com. last bug; if your email on an external provider if the same as principal email of your microsoft account, it doesn't work...
    • It's the only reason I finally have an iPhone (for work) and enjoy using it so much that I'm tempted to move from android next time I need to replace my own device
    • So is Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, just to mention a few. What's your point? Everyone is a threat from their enemies' perspective. I'd say that Israel is only a threat to their immediate enemies like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Iranian regime, not to anyone else.
    • The government is not the good guy either. You propose 99% of people require that the government overreach and govern their freedom of information and privacy, while ignoring the government is made up 100% of people, of which 99% are (as you described) brain dead. You can't have both. The reality is Signal is absolutely right and the government is doing what it has always done. Ignoring that we are their boss and grabbing all the power they possibly can to make sure we aren't. Your (societies) ###### parenting is not reason enough as to why I can't have a safe platform for my data/information. Thinking the government is helping is precisely what they are targeting psychologically to take suckers like you for a ride. "Think of the children" was, has, is, and will always be a mechanism of control. In the rare occasion it's actually essential the mass consensus has always been there and it doesn't become a debate.
