@Neo003: Thanks for posting the updated version of the Summer chart. I see a few series have been added to it since I last saw it. 2 interesting once as well among added series, like "Shi Ki" and "Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail". I must say that "Ookamisan to Shichinin no Nakamatachi" also sounds pretty interesting (Y)

I'll be adding those 2 series to this "Plan to watch" list: Amagami SS, Highschool of the Dead, Osaka Hamlet and Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin. I'm looking forwards to "Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin" the most to be honest. It's 1 of the series among others that have been made for the "Anime no Chikara" project by Aniplex. The plot really appeals to me plus the previous series from that project were pretty great so far as well :D

@Maksed Forever: The mangaka didn't take the save way; the mangaka wrote what he wanted to write. And I'm now actually done talking about this.

@RadishTM: I agree! It was also nice to see him smile after seeing his flashbacks. He was finally content with his past.

I got Evangelion 1.11 on Blu-Ray the other day. Pretty good so far. Seems to take the show in a more mainstream direction and i think i could actually recommend it to non anime viewers.

I've also acquired 2.22 and I've got the original show well the platinum editon tin on DVD and love the series and 2.22 seems to be quite different from the original show... it has been awhile since i've watched it but this seems to have a lot of stuff not from the anime.

You're right about it taking a more mainstream direction, Anno's intention with these remakes was to make this appeal to people who've never watched the original series before.

And from 2.0/2.22 onwards he would begin changes with new characters and the like, instead of following the original format. The fourth (and final) film will have a completely different ending compared to the original series as well.

Still really can't be bothered to finish off these filler episodes of Rurouni Kenshin.

Skip them and read volumes 18 onwards of the manga. The Revenge arc is one of the most important. The last OVA is nothing more than a Clannad offshoot of melodrama that shouldn't exist.

I'm rewatching FLCL and Trigun :)

I found FLCL a bit..... weird i guess. How's Trigun? Been considering watching it.

Lousy? More like one of the most mind destroying abstractions that leaves your jaw on the floor by how it managed to tear apart the silly "golden era of 80s mecha" established prior to NGE. XD

Check out RahXephon. It's my favorite anime series of all time. Imagine NGE but with a better execution, cast and story. It's one of the only anime series that I forget that breaks apart from the typical "boy tackles the world and becomes the world's best mecha pilot" stereotype. The male lead is not always the center of the story, which is one of the reasons I love the show.

Ahh I saw RahXephon on the recommendations page for NGE in MAL. Was wondering whether it followed a similar pattern to NGE but seeing you recommend it (after dissing NGE :p ) I'll add that to the Plan To Watch list.

Was thinking of watching Honey and Clover next. Any comments?

Btw any suggestion from the summer anime out (thanks for the updated chart Neo003; i only saw the v1 of it a few weeks back)? I've already got Sekirei ~Pure Engagement~ (I just enjoyed the first season ) but any other recommendations?

Oh and i'm wondering whether to pick up Bleach again? I'm hearing a lot of hype about seeing some new Bankais (like Kyouraku's)

EDIT: Also I'm looking forward to the above answers about anime-access too

How much is it, and what do they have?

You can check out what they have on their website in terms of series but I like it because it's direct download. I purchased 6 months for $38 and you get 15.6gb of included bandwidth then I bought an additional 20gb for $15 and that's just a one time payment it stays attached every month. The quality is good and they also have every new bleach, one piece, and naruto episodes for direct download right away which is nice. I'm pretty impressed so far I really don't mind paying for something like this as long as it's good quality.

You're telling me that you paid for some site that catalogs all the FREE fansubs and charges for bandwith like Megaupload and Rapidshare? You know that torrents exist, right? High quality torrents that are only limited by your internet service speed because they're so well seeded that you can torrent at your connection's max download speed...

You just got ripped off.

Hahah I knew someone was going to say that, doesn't bother me because i have access to tons of anime now and I'm not really worried about the money! I'm not a big fan of torrents either and this way it's all in one place. I just downloaded 25gb in a couple days hahah

Already using it on air video watching anime on my iPad now :)

You can also download all the anime torrents from one place in 1080p (except licensed stuff which you can find through other means). It's not about the money. You're supporting a site that's profiting from the hard work of fansub groups who have not consented to this service and are providing high quality translations for free because the anime companies don't cater to the Western side that well.

Lol you guys are funny

Maybe I shouldn't have posted that  getting your panties in a knot

Far from it  You should have just put that money into the series in question when it gets licensed in your country, each to their own though ;)

Might watch a Lupin III special tonight, need something standalone to watch :D

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
