[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

Recommended Posts

After much googling, I have decided to swallow my shame and consult the almighty otakus of Neowin!

I just finished Toradora. Coupled with an album from Ryuichi Sakamoto I got my hands on around the same time, it was an extremely emotional experience. I'd love a series that comes close to being that good to follow it up with, idc about a good/bad ending.

If anyone could help me, I would much appreciate it.

go with ToHeart first.

Tried Honey and Clover?

It's funny how this thread is still mainly about Bleach :/

^Yep, that's pretty much true. And some jumped in whenever we did. Oh well, as long as the others enjoy this thread.

I love that y'all post about other animes/manga. It has given me a lot of good ones to watch/read which I had not known before, or had a different opinion about, but still gave a shot because of one of y'alls reviews.

Sadly, my home computer monitor broke, so I am without anime this week..... May just hook everything up to my big screen tv, but such a hassle, and I wont have sound.... anyone have a crunchy pass or something I could use on my ps3 until I get a new monitor? :p

I kinda lost the feeling of wanting to post here about random anime that I watch, but not spoken about by others in this thread. Mainly due to the regulars being absent which won't change as far as I know. Plus I don't really review anymore for the time being as I'm too busy with my internship. I even had to close my blog due to not having the time to update it.

Same with my reason for only watching or keeping up with a few anime/manga at the moment. Life just taking up so much, it is hard to keep up with everything.

I started the Highschool of the Dead, made it to ep 6, and just stopped. I liked it, but just couldn't keep up with it. Right now, my main are Bleach, Naruto, and Gantz.

Never been into the whole Gundam scene unfortunately. And I can't stand a anime like Prince of Tennis or something that pits them in real life situations. I want more fantasy in mine :p

On a side note... I finally watched the live action Speed Racer movie that came out some years ago..... I loved it. It looked great, the acting was pretty good, and the feel of everything just felt right. Even with how computerized it looked, they did everything so well, that you accepted what you saw, and never thought, naaaaaaa not believable. I'm sort of sad I hadn't noticed this movie earlier. Was very entertaining.

^He did indeed :p I knew you belonged in that list though

@shakey: I'm only watching 1 episode during the weekdays so that's 1 episode a day and during the weekends I try to catch up with some new shows. Like for instance: Fractale

The shows that I watch during weekdays are older series that I had piling up on my external drive :p

Yeah for sure, I've seen lots of good anime shows due to good recommendations in this thread :)

Can't wait for Bleach tonight! I hope it's not filler lol

I've been watching Fairy Tail, I'm on about ep 25, it's not really meant as a serious show I don't think haha

It gets better. I read the manga too and the current arc in the manga is pretty interesting. The next arc in the anime is quite intriguing imo

I have to agree. The time it takes for some episodes to come across is just insane. Then they try and sell a series, but they break it down into episodes, where you are paying roughly 25$ bucks for 3 to 4 episodes, and a whole series of a show with over 100 episodes will cost you dearly. And when the professionals do it, they butcher it all to hell. There really is no going back from a great fansub once you have experienced it. Why don't they hire these guys? lol

That's if you can buy them at all. Trying to find certain anime from UK retailers is near impossible! Also, I just re-watched Death Note and checked out the English audio once or twice....it was painful to hear!

exactly. Some you can't find. The ones you can will be way too expensive or just horribly done. Also, if it is aired for free, streamed for free, what problem do they have with people watching it for free?

    • 2 was a fun game but felt a bit shallow, like not enough there. I hope this expansion fixes that.
    • I haven't paid for windows since windows 8. So I guess I would be happy to pay for a new version if it meant seeing fewer adverts (none) or product pushes. But that applies to _any_ service or OS.
    • Save 35% on Sony's SS-CS5M2 3-way high-res bookshelf speakers by Taras Buria Sony is currently offering a big discount on its SS-CS5M2 bookshelf speaker, saving you 35% on a set of high-quality audio equipment. The SS-CS5M2 is a passive 3-way bookshelf speaker with a 5.12-inch woofer, a 25 mm soft-dome tweeter, and a 19 mm super tweeter. This design allows different drivers to handle different parts of the sound spectrum for a clearer, more detailed audio when watching movies or listening to music. The compact cabinet size allows you to place these speakers on shelves, desks, or stands, making them a practical choice for apartments, bedrooms, and small living rooms. Despite its compact size, the SS-CS5M2 delivers up to 100 W of power. Note that since the speakers are passive, you will need an amplifier to drive them. However, if you do, you can use them for high-resolution music, thanks to a claimed frequency response of 53 Hz - 50 kHz. It is able to extend so far high in the spectrum as a result of those super tweeters. While they will work with most amplifiers and AV receivers, Sony says this pair is a perfect match for its AV receivers, such as STRDH190, 590, 790, or 1000. • So they somehow expect Apple to easily make it so that if I install say DeepSeek that DS can then handle all the tasks that Siri would be doing while integrated in the OS? That sounds like just rediculous.
