[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

for me it was enjoyable to a point and that point was before it became DBZ with swords and ever since the passing of Tomoko Kawakami i don't think ill be making the mistake of picking bleach back up.

But yeah all in all if you want a good shounen just watch YuYu Hakusho a few dozen times.

Yeah, I can understand that. Like I said, I don't really go into a Bleach marathon session expecting high art.

Also, I wanted to apologize to everyone for being one of those guys that does a post on the Big Three. I probably should have done a post on Future Diary, and I don't know why I didn't when I read that a few months ago...

Finished watching GunGrave.

overall the show was really good, but I feel like the

necrolyzation and the superiors went way too far.

I've also been caught up with the Gantz manga for months now, and I have nothing to read.

I was thinking about buying the Deathnote manga, or something else thats fairly short.

Is Gantz over? From what I can sum up, I think they might just leave it as is. I have heard nothing about the next chapter....

Bleach manga is just crazy right now. Anyone have a clue what could be going on?

Bleach anime filler is actually great. Loving these captain vs captain battles.

Naruto manga is slow, but still good. They are right now just rehashing Naruto's will and courage for everyone, but I believe we are in for quite the battle soon :)

The anime form is getting to the good moments. These next chapters will be just insane.

There's some interesting news for fellow Gundam-aniacs () right here: Gundam The Origin Manga to Launch Anime Project. I sure hope it's going be at least almost as epic as the original series. Though no other Gundam series can get close to it for me. One things for sure though; it's going to be loads better then Gundam AGE. Though I'm not clear yet what I think about Gundam AGE. Some things look interesting, and other things look downright lame in the Gundam Universe. We'll just have to wait and see how it's going to turn out.

So, I just marathon?ed Season 14 of Bleach, sans the filler. I should start by saying I don?t expect much from Bleach.

Some of it was pretty bad. Some of the arc seemed really drawn out. A lot of drawn out fights between characters that were just introduced or characters I did not care about. Some of the plot points were kind of? bad :

Aizen?s ?I?ve been watching you! Since you were born! With cameras!?

. The constant reuse of footage was the worst, though. Maybe it plays better when you don?t marathon it, but some of the footage was from seasons ago and I had seen years ago, and I still thought: ?yeah yeah, I?ve already seen this, move on?.

But, at some points it managed to impress me. The last episodes of the arc are pretty good, especially 307 to 310. The atmosphere shifted dramatically from the rest of the arc. The design seemed to get a lot better. And, this might be a spoiler for the end of the arc:

If Kubo had just ended the manga at the end of this arc, I would be totally satisfied. It feels like a satisfying end at the end of this arc. I don?t feel like I would need more Bleach. Which is a compliment to the series, it?s hard to end things neatly as I can tell you having watched many a series, but I feel like Bleach pulled it off really well.

All in all, I have to say I came out of it more satisfied than I thought I would be. By the end of the arc, I was really into it and was rooting for Ichigo and was invested in the story line. Would I call Bleach a work of art or ?some of best of anime out there?? No. Hell, I would probably have a hard time recommending it to others. Is it enjoyable? Yes, I think so.

@First spoiler tag

I TOTALLY agree! When he said that, I was like omg, that's so stupid!

Hey guys just getting back into anime/manga. Currently reading and watching Soul Eater and The Walking Dead. Any other manga/anime that are a must read?

I love stuff like Soul Eater, Bleach, Naruto, Love Hina, Serial Experiments Lain, Death Note. Actiony type ones.

Gantz is a good ride, but hard for many to keep invested.. the story is just really out there.

On a side note, not anime or manga based, but foreign. I Saw The Devil - amazing epic movie. Just wanted to get that out, as we are all already fine with reading subtitles :p If you liked Oldboy, you will like this just as much. The cinematography in this movie is amazing, and he has a great way of building characters and throwing twist at you.

For some reason I haven't got my email notifications for this thread

Anyways back on topic.. So Ano Hana was the first on my list from the spring line up to finish. It was a really well done anime imo (or maybe I feel that way cuz it's the first anime I watched with a plot of this nature). The next to finish on my list would be Deadman Wonderland I guess. I found that to be interesting too..

So, here?s a belated post on Mirai Nikki (Future Diary).

Basic Plot (shamelessly stolen from wikipedia): Yukiteru always rejected any offers to go with friends and just keeps writing a diary on his cell phone. He has what he believes is an imaginary friend called Deus Ex Machina. However, one day Deus asks him to play a survival game along with eleven others. The winner becomes the next Deus Ex Machina. In order to win, the contestants must use their diaries of the future to eliminate one another. For Yukiteru to survive, he must team up with another diary holder, a girl named Yuno.

I would say the manga could be divided into three parts.

The first part is pretty basic. Our hero meets a new diary holder and must defeat them before he is defeated. It?s not bad, but it?s not outstanding either.

During the course of the story, the tone shifts. Without giving too much away and I?ll spoiler this anyway,

our hero is no longer in one on one battles, but rather the plot moves to a kind of Man Vs. Society style of conflict. I would almost compare it to something like Mission: Impossible, where the main character is facing an establishment rather than a person.

I feel like I did a bad job explaining that. Anyway, I have to commend the author for making such a change to the tone and story of the manga.

The third part is what really impressed me. I can only describe this section as the section where it get ?crazy?. Throughout the manga, they?ll be times where characters don?t act as one assume they would in real life. Nothing story breaking, nothing outside the suspension of disbelief, especially in this type of manga. However, by the end of the story, it?s all been justified. Which is really something considering it?s not like Lost, where you?re actively looking for answers, it?s just that any loose ends are tied up.

My one complaint is that some characters are rather flat (such as Yukiteru?s parents) and just seem to serve as plot devices. As you can guess from the plot summary, there are some romantic elements to the story, but it?s part of the story and really helps to flesh out the characters.

Overall, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good manga. Where the author takes the story and the dramatic tonal changes throughout the manga manage to keep it fresh.

Read a few volumes of Future Diary, wasn't really that interested in it.

Finished Utawarerumono.

I did not expect the story developments that revealed themselves later on.

There is potential for expansion to fill in the blanks of the story, but I doubt that will happen.

It sure had a lot of pleasurable moments and is one of the few harem anime which are any good.

PS: If you want to watch it, prepare eye bleach for the horrid 3D animation.

Now that I think of it, I haven't been receiving notifications either.. hm...

I heard that's a great show, have it on my computer ready to watch sometime.

Almost finished with Rurouni Kenshin, what a great show. Although if it wasn't for the Kyoto arc, it wouldn't have have been the same!

Yeah, my email subscription to the thread seem to disappear. This happened to a number of other threads. I had to resubscribe.

Good idea :p

Anybody been watching Naruto lately? I haven't seen it for about a year, is it on filler or anything decent?

It feels like the anime naruto will out live me and I started watching it when I was 13, I am now 23.

I only watch the anime and do not read the manga, its current episodes being released in Japan recently have been pretty epic.

I always just skip the filters as I cant stand them.

Anyway naruto never fails to disappoint me and the series is still very epic and suspenseful, its my reason to look forward to thursdays still :) (This is when its subbed and uploaded from japan to torrents)

ANyone a fan of tsubasa chronicles?

^^ Wow 10 yrs that's awesome :D

How have the last 20 episodes been on average?

I'm considering watching it again when I'm done Rurouni Kenshin.

The last 20 episodes have actually had the most action in them in quite some time, there's a few epic battles that take place that are very enjoyable to watch and well worth the wait.

I highly recommend you get back into naruto and spend a weekend catching up!

Rurouni Kenshin is awesome and also one of my all time favorites!

    • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
    • People in the '50s and '60s had the same attitude, and we're still here over a half century later.
    • So after some fiddling I was able to get it to run at a pretty stable 30FPS. I'm slightly surprised about how much fiddling I had to do to get there though given what I thought was reasonable hardware: Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 16 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon 780M Graphics Graphics Processor 2: AMD Radeon RX 7700S I think I could do it better if I use Linux rather than Windows, Windows RAM usage is stupid without stripping the system down. But once I got it working in a reasonable state, it was so awesome! I felt like a new Bond! If anyone has any advice to get things going a bit smoother FPS-wise, I'd appreciate it.
