[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

Recommended Posts

Hey guys any recommendations from this season's batch of anime? I'm watching Gintama and Nurarihyon 2 for now (along with a few from the spring batch)

I picked "Nekogami Yaoyorozu" for the lulz and "Usagi Drop" for srs slice-of-life.

I used to love Bleach, but then all this Aizen is invincible thing came on and I got irritated. But I should give it a second chance. Currently I'm more into Blue Exorcist.

I heard that show was getting really popular, I have it on my HDD but I'm waiting until one season is done at least. Seems a bit like D.Gray-man to me..

Hi, I'm not much of an anime fan, only anime from 90's that I knew of (until recently) are Sailor Moon an Pokemon (if I recall correctly, both of those I watched more than eagerly), but recently I've become a believer! Can I hear a hallelujah? ;)

My first contact with "modern" anime took place few months ago, can you guess what was it? Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt! My reaction after watching first ep: "WTF?!? AWESOME! MOAR!" Since then I've watched H.O.T.D, Bakemonogatari, Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai, and finally my latest obsession Railgun and Index (currently watching S2 of index). Currently waiting in line are Beelzebub and Kara no Kyoukai.

So after that short story of my life let me get straight to the point:

I'm looking for some reliable and frequently updated source of anime news and reviews.

Another believer!

If you want updated news I always check Anime News Network. They have a top 50 list (goes up to 500 I think) so you can get an accurate account of what people think are good shows.

If you like shounen anime some good shows are:

Hunter X Hunter

One Piece

Bleach

Naruto

D.Gray-Man

Rurouni Kenshin

Code Geass

There's lots more but those are some of the best imo, anyways welcome to the club! :p

Thanks for the link, looks like a really good news source.

As for you recommendations, I've seen few episodes on Naruto, it wasn't bad, but I can't say I enjoyed it much. Will for sure check out the rest.

For me it's not about type of anime but about the world/story presented in it.

For now it seems like I mostly enjoy stories that involve mix of science and supernatural (a bit of magic added to that wont hurt) that take place in worlds "so similar, yet so different" to ours + some comedy, which is always warmly welcomed by me.

For now I have to go through "withdrawal syndrome" after watching every episode of Railgun and Index (both of those are currently my No. 1).

BTW, someone knows when shows picked up for 2011/12 will get announced?

I'm hoping for more PSG and (of course) Index or Railgun

Taking Bets on Ichigo being the Soul King somehow.

There has been tons of rumors and discussion about the secret family of the soul society and who Ichigo's family belongs to.

Don't know where or if this filler arc is going to address it, but this arc is pretty good at the moment, in both Anime and Manga, though both are different stories.

I'm more excited from Naruto though. This epic ninja war is just insane and I want to see it animated out already.

Try Yu Yu Hakusho and give it at least 5-10 episodes. It's a shounen anime done right. Death Note and the newly released Blue Exorcist (ao no exorcist) are also worth a watch. However death note may make you feel like an idiot when compared to Light or L :p

Damn, BLEACH manga is heating up, makes me really excited to see what's going to happen in the next few chapters :D !

Scirwode

if the bleach arc is done, does that mean the next episodes will be back to the main story line?

I recently started watching cromartie high and one piece.

Not to sure about one piece since im getting into way late, but ill give it a chance.

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12. Next, the 2K Sports Champions Bundle comes touting games like NBA 2K26, PGA TOUR 2K25, OlliOlli World Rad Edition, and TopSpin 2K25 with a hefty $25 price tag. Lastly, the Redline Racing Bundle is touting games like Art of Rally, Descenders, Mudrunner, and Assetto Corsa Competizione with a $10 price tag.
