[Official] Anime/Manga Thread

I won't have any suggestions for that as I don't watch One Piece :p

You see, I was one of those believers, until a friend forced it on me. I am definitely loving it now. The series is not stupid (as you may think it is) at all. Fights are incredible, and for the first time ever, I was hooked up to watch the series up until 3:00 a.m. (something that I don't usually do).

But your eyes are going to hurt on the first episodes.

And remember this, I didn't believe it at first when my friend told me, but, the drawing improves a lot throughout the series.

One Piece looks like loads of fun, I admit that. But I'm not a fan of anime series that go on forever. Bleach has also been recommended to me numerous times but I just couldn't bring myself to watch it. Dragon Ball Z was the first and last anime that went on forever that I watched :p

O man

the lack of bleach anime start to kill me :(

Agree, I like the Manga still releasing new ones, but lack of the anime is a very sad thing.

Been looking for a new one since, if anyone wants to suggest anything my fav animes so far have been Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Bleach, Code Geass, Full Metal Alchemist (the first one), Naruto in that order. not really interested in One Piece/Death Note/some other popular anime I can't remember the name of, but beyond that I'm interested in suggestions.

Basically anything with lots of action, preferably non-realistic (hate shows like pretty much all the Gundams, the mech-based combat is not my thing, but shows like Bleach and FMA are more my style of what type of combat I enjoy) and somewhat newer (I can't get into some of the non-realistic animes focused around demons, can't remember what they are called though). Any suggestions?

That being said I might check out the detective conan mentioned by Azusa, sounds like it might be interesting based on some of the comments but it doesn't sound like it's going to sate my bloodlust for action animes.

@rajputwarrior: You should also give Paprika a try, which is a great psychological anime. The original book of it was used as an inspiration for Inception as well. Should give you an idea of what Paprika is about: Dreams. Though very different than Inception of course.

Just finished watching Paprika. I somewhat liked it :p. I think I'll need to rewatch it to get it right. I think I was thinking too much of Inception. Really like the Ending, though.

Three words for resuming my experience with the movie:

super mind-fuq

:p.

Two Words Blue Gender!!!!

Haha, well I did say that the original book was only an inspiration for Inception :p But yeah, it's one of those anime you'll have to rewatch to get it.

I liked this movie. A bit on the wild side but its great flick to watch. I might have to find my DVD and watch it again tonight.

Two Words Blue Gender!!!!

I just finished the blue gender about a week ago. You liked it? I found it drawn out and boring. The mech designs not so great and the blue ****ty design too.

Yeah, I tried watching it, and maybe it's because I only watched the first episode, but it seemed to focus too much on mech combat. The thing I liked about Code Geass, is while it did have mech combat, there was plenty of action outside of the mechs. Seemed really boring to me just going through the first episode of Blue Gender.

that is just the first 2-3 eps. After that there are no mechs again until the end. I finished the series but was not enjoying it.

Well it is one of the more adult Anim? like The Legend Of The Galactic Heroes and as for the design of the mechs The Armored Shrike is a piece of Military hardware it's not meant to be pretty it's not the big kiddy toy like Gundam and i liked that about them mainly cause they reminded me of something from WarHammer 40.000.

Perhaps Samurai Champloo could be something you'd like? Blade Of The Immortal and maybe even Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. The first 2 are anime with sword fighting (of course you could've figured that out by reading the titles, haha). The 2nd one is more about gunfights and intrigue. The last one is also more about gun fights.

Finished the first season of Darker than Black. Probably get through the second season over the weekend.

Anyone know any good anime themed podcasts? I used to listen to the Anime News Networks podcast, but usually there was only like 10 minutes of good banter between the hosts at the beginning followed by a boring hour-long interview with some minor player in the anime business and then emails that seemed to always resulted in them complaining about how piracy has hurt the industry.

I'm looking for some Anime.

I don't much care for TV shows (ala cartoon network), so Full Metal Alchemist wasn't

my bag, baby. Adult is fine.

Go!

P.S.

Kindly quote this when making suggestions so I can find your suggestions quicker. Thanks.

What genres do you like?

Darker than Black is kind of an action/mystery thing. Very episodic (not much continuity between episodes).

I talk about FLCL, Studio Ghibli films, and Next is Now and Then Here and There in this blog post.

I talk about Neon Genesis Evangelion, Toaru Majutsu no Index, and Ergo Proxy in this post.

So it seems I had completely forgotten to watch the 4th episode of Gundam Unicorm. This didn't strike me even while looking around for episode 5! On the plus side this means I have two episodes to watch back to back :D

^If you like Vexille's art style then you'll surely like Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina.

I should check out Appleseed too. Should I watch the OVA first or the Movie first? Or does the order not matter?

    • You can't remove Safari though. Or almost any other bundled app for that matter, and pretty much all of them are useless to me (and there are is a heap of them compared to Windows). I'll much rather take Edge than Safari, at least it can be highly customized vs. Safari. I'll take a PC with ten Edges over a Mac any day though as I can't stand all the limitation and painfully frustrationg restriction that make me dislike their stuff with a burning passion, iOS included (especially iOS).
    • DVD only? What kind of self-respecting optical disk backup/ripping tool doesn't support Blu-ray these days? I burned all my DVDs like 15+ years ago...

    • Glow 26.9 by Razvan Serea Glow provides detailed reporting on every hardware component in your computer, saving you valuable time typically spent searching for CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, and other stats. With Glow, all the information is conveniently presented in one clean interface, allowing you to easily access and review the comprehensive hardware details of your system. Glow provides detailed information on various system aspects, including OS, motherboard, processor, memory, graphics card, storage, network, battery, drivers, and services. The well-organized format ensures easy access to the required information. You can export all the gathered data to a plain text file, facilitating sharing with others for troubleshooting purposes. No installation needed. Just decompress the archive, launch the executable, and access computer-related information. Glow runs on Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit versions. Glow 26.9 changelog: New Features The processor hardware detection engine has been significantly enhanced beyond traditional Intel and AMD architectures. Native support is now available for modern platforms such as Apple Silicon (M-Series) and the newly introduced NVIDIA Spark. In addition, all ARM-based processors can now be accurately distinguished between ARM32 and ARM64 architectures, providing precise hardware reporting. This marks a major milestone for Glow's hardware detection capabilities. The RAM manufacturer identification algorithm has been expanded. JEDEC vendor codes for popular brands such as Patriot, PNY, Team Group, GeIL, Lexar (Longsys), and Asgard/Gloway have been integrated into the database. This significantly reduces the likelihood of incorrect or "Unknown Manufacturer" results and improves overall hardware detection accuracy. New Public IP Address and Internet Service Provider (ISP) features have been added to the Network section. To ensure reliability, this information is retrieved from the trusted service ipwho.is. When Hiding Mode is enabled, no requests are sent and these features remain hidden, as they may expose sensitive information. The search engine used in the Installed Drivers, Installed Services, and Installed Applications sections has been enhanced. You can now perform more flexible and accurate searches using initials, partial matches, and loosely arranged character sequences. The TS Preloader loading bar has been rebuilt using our modern TS Custom Controls graphics library, developed entirely in-house. As a result of this infrastructure upgrade, the loading bar now features smooth rendering and rounded corners that align with the visual style of Windows 11. [TS Updater] A new validation algorithm has been added to check whether the target application is currently running before the update process begins. Bug Fixes Resolved a condition that could prevent TS Preloader from shutting down safely during rare application crash scenarios. Fixed a text alignment issue in the Network section affecting the display of DNS addresses. Alignment is now rendered correctly. [TS Updater] Fixed an issue that could prevent the updated application's executable "*.exe" file from being located after the update process. [TS Updater] Fixed a bug that could leave outdated "*.sha256" files in the application directory after an update. [TS Updater] Fixed a rare issue that could cause subfolders to be moved into the root directory after an update. [TS Updater] Fixed an issue during the first launch that could cause flickering and a temporary white window appearance due to Windows Defender interactions. Changes A small improvement has been made to the internet connectivity detection algorithm. Connectivity checks are now performed in the background with minimal impact on the user interface thread. The keyboard shortcuts in the top menu have been reorganized and simplified to provide a consistent experience across all Türkaysoft applications and to avoid potential conflicts with standard Windows shortcuts. The TS Preloader splash image has been updated with a Türkiye-themed stadium design to celebrate Türkiye's qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup—its first appearance in 24 years. Congratulations, Türkiye! The TS Custom Controls module has been updated to version 26.6, delivering improved stability and a more polished visual appearance. [TS Updater] The application icon has been redesigned to provide a more modern and refined look. Note: Always unzip the program before using it. Otherwise you may get an error.
