Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed 2

Recommended Posts

Assassin?s Creed has been one of Ubisoft?s best selling franchises, becoming their fastest selling new IP since 2002, with the game doing well even on the PC despite being leaked early on torrent sites. Thus it is not surprising to hear that the company is ?working hard? on a follow-up.

This was revealed in a conference call to analysts, and while no further details were shared, it is being rumored that the game has changed time frame from 1191 to ?several hundred years in the future,? most likely, the French Revolution in the 1700s. Additionally, it is also speculated that Ubisoft is aiming for a holiday 2009 launch of the game, but has been no official confirmation yet.

Franchise? 2002? Whaa

But yeah, it's no surprise there is a sequel in the works.

I probably should get around to playing Assassin's Creed 1 :p I've had it since Christmas 2007 and only played it for maybe 1 hour :p this is mainly cause it has a bit of a "stigma" about it, my 360 died on Christmas day after I played Assassin's Creed :p So been hesitant to play it since, stupid I know

I already got this info about a month ago when I was talking with a friend of mine who works for Ubisoft Montreal. He mentioned to me that (as posted above) the game would take place in a different time period and it would also take place a couple months after Desmond was kidnapped.

i really liked the first one...yeah you ran around and did the same things over and over but i liked that. i am sick of games throwing curve balls at you every new lvl and you constantly having to adjust and not use your favorite techniques because the game wants you to try what they think is best. i got really creative with the first assassin's creed and didn't go in for the easy kill and run away... it was fun. really looking forward to a second release i want a sniper so bad.

I'd always thought this IP was planned as a trilogy anyway. Good news on the sequel, lets hope it improves on the original

I don't think it's a planned trilogy, but they definitely planned to make it a franchise. They were pretty clear about that.

First one was really good, I'm thinking of buying it again. A lot of the fun wasn't immediately apparent, it was something you had to find on your own (in my opinion).

I really enjoyed the timeframe and setting, not sure how it will translate to later times. I guess they way the gameplay was developed, it could fit anywhere but they are really going to have to work hard to use the French Revolution, I think.

Jus one thing.

SUBTITLES PLEASE!

This, plus no ridiculous story lines (unfortunately will probably be necessary to continue AC1), and no dire repetitive gameplay.

Then I'll be happy ;)

yes, it was mentioned that Assassin's Creed (in devblogs, I think) was a trilogy but not officially by Ubisoft. I guess it all depends on sales. Unlike Bioshock which is officially a trilogy plus movie franchise...

I enjoyed the first, the basic elements of it were great.

They just need to build upon them now, it reminded me of Spiderman 2, which while was great fun to play, you always came across the same random missions, Balloons, Robots and Thugs/Thieves were essentially it, which brought it down a bit.

    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets another hotfix for one of the game's online modes by Taras Buria Recently, Forza Horizon 6 players discovered an interesting glitch that allowed farming a crazy amount of in-game credits in a few minutes. Playground Games quickly pulled the plug on the exploit by disabling one of the game's online modes, and today, the studio is rolling out another hotfix. In my review, I complained about the game still showering gamers with cars, credits, and wheelspins. As such, earning money in Forza Horizon 6 is not a particularly difficult task. You simply have to play the game, crazy, I know. However, people still found an easier path to becoming a billionaire in Forza Horizon 6. All you had to do was purchase the Hummer EV, install a specific tune, shift in reverse while going at about 15 MPH, hit a wall, and get launched into the stratosphere at the speed of light. While mid-air, launch Eliminator and quickly get eliminated. Boom, the game just awarded you with a few million in-game credits. Initially, Playground Games disabled Eliminator to prevent people from farming credits. Now, following the release of the first balancing update, developers are rolling out a new update that re-enables Eliminator and gives users a free McLaren Sabre as a gesture of goodwill. Here is the changelog: One critical issue remains unpatched, though. There are quite a few reports of the game wiping gamers' saves, and developers are still looking into that. To avoid potential data loss, Playground Games recommends taking one of the steps outlined in a previously published support article.
