iLinK
Just bought my first guitar (Acoustic guitar). I have no clue on how to play it, but I want to learn. Any advices, places where I can get tutorials, how-to's... etc... Any input would be appreciated. serious
Just practice this one ( ) and you're good to go. :)Na, seriously, I'd start with ultimate-guitar as well. Perhaps a couple of videos to start up with (as how to be positioned, how to place your hands and such) and just try to learn the songs you like by reading chords and just replay it 'till they fit. General knowledge comes with hours with the guitar, so don't rush it. Play the songs that YOU like and just keep practicing! Pompeius
Download the Powertab software and some powertabs. It's one of the best ways to learn songs because you can slow it down and hear how it's supposed to be played. Pete Zaria
There's some free lessons and a great page of links at www.dontfret.com (they sell a learn-to-play-guitar product, but they also have lots of good free stuff). Also some great beginner guitar lessons on youtube. Peace, Pete Zaria. DeanM0998
Learn these chords: A C D E G - they are the basic ones that are used often in popular songs. F and B... if you're playing these as "bar" chords, they can be harder at first, but you'll get the hang of it. The biggest problem at first is usually switching from one chord to another: if you want to strum a C chord 4 times then a G chord 4 times, you will find that there is a huge pause between the two (when you move your fingers into the G position). Don't worry about this, there's nothing you can really do about it, apart from keep trying until it gets faster and smoother and the gap when switching disappears! n3wt
It isn't as important where you get your info from...the main thing is to keep at it, it takes a long time. For the first bit just make sure you're playing every day so you build up some calluses...that way the pain in your fingers will go away and you'll find it easier to practice. It's very painful at times, but now I have very convenient grooves in my fingers where the strings fit. Just keep practicing finger positions in chords, and changing between different chords. Sil3nt
My advice to you is just practice I have been playing for around 3 years all self taught, and the song I'm learning right now is Canon Rock got most of the parts down but the only problem I really have is just remembering all the notes... perochan
learn the basic first then find the music you like and start practice. ONE advice tho: the tip of your fingers will hurt like crap after an intensive practice. rest for a couple days and practice again and feel the pain again. but your fingers will develop a tougher skin. after that, practice your heart out. :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/703556-acoustic-guitar/#findComment-590215544 Share on other sites
