Retrieving Files from RAID

Recommended Posts

would a USB -> SATA external doc work?

No thats not likely going to work....It might if its a RAID 1...

and im not quite sure how to use it... do i just plug in 1 hdd at a time.. then run the program?

I have not used this program (yet) but I would guess you connect all the HDD's thats part of the RAID and install the program to access it.

tried the program but it seems to only recover files from non-raid drives..

got a trial version of the program they have that actually recovers the files but only full version allows u to save the files and its 250USD..

any cheaper way to get the files back?

but there has to be a way to retrieve the files from RAID.. or else everytime someones motherboard dies.. they'd be in trouble...

the program peterUK suggested should work if it wasn't $250USD.. some sort of software RAID?

the old motherboard i used was asus p4c800-e.. can someone please suggest some newer boards that would let me get the files back??

thanks

the raid is still in tact and fully functional.. but im not sure where i can find a comp that can load the raid..

old motherboard = asus p4c800-e deluxe, intel 875p chipset

any mobo still on sale that can load it?

Do you know if it was the Intel ICH5R or Promise 20378 RAID controller you used on that board? Or what SATA ports you used to setup the RAID.

Hey OP, what are the symptoms of your broken desktop? Does it not power up? Does it power up, but nothing show on the screen? Maybe we can help you fix your broken PC....

It might be easier to fix your computer than do a RAID recovery.

my desktop will boot til after the Scanning for IDE drive+RAID configurations screen.. then black screen.. and either it restarts or stops..

after restarting from that.. it wont even show anything and just shut down after 3-5 seconds..

its not my hdd or ram cuz i tried to pull them from a working comp and same thing happened..

tried with only my PSU, cpu, mobo, ram+hdd from diff comp and still wouldnt load pass scanning for drives..

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2. • Normally, I admit when a title is clickbait (unfortunately, it's become somewhat necessary to compete against AI-dominated news sections today), but in this case, all supported versions is implied and doesn't need to be spelled out in the title. Of course, I'm covering a Patch Tuesday update bug that is only available to supported Windows SKUs. All our coverage relates to supported Windows software and SKUs only unless we expressly state that it's "unsupported", "unofficial", or "third-party". I'm sorry, but supported/official SKUs don't need to be spelled out as such in every Neowin headline.
