using vista with old video card?

Recommended Posts

I have a Radeon 7000 card from about 2000 working on a Vista box - Aero doesnt work obviously, but it goes! Youtube wont play very smoothly though.

It really is worthless doing it if its about the same age as my card - about all youll be able to do with the computer is slowly browse using Windows Explorer, or look on the net. Anything else that uses any graphics at all, you wont be able to put up with trust me.

How old is the card? What is its model number in XP Display Properties?

My Radeon 7000 apparantely isnt supported by ATI or MS for Vista, but I got it going somehow. Think there was a guide somewhere, there may be on for your card.

Geforce ti4200 is the card that I am trying to use

Damn. That **** is ancient. I have one buried in dust somewhere in my closet. :p

Try using the XP drivers. I personally don't suggest using such a ****ty GPU with Vista. It will indeed run but what's the point... you won't get anything out of using Vista with that immense bottleneck of a graphics card.
