iphone or no iphone?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm in a sort of predicament, shall I get an iPhone or not? I need a new iPod, and I was going to get an iPod touch so I'm thinking to just get the iPhone and be done with it, but at just under ?400 its a bloody expensive phone I already have a N95 8gb which I use for storing 'some' music and obviously the phone.

I've heard mixed reviews about the iPhone a mate of mine has one it seems ok.

What do you guys think?

Cheers.

Chris.

I have one on contract and I couldn't live without it.

On the other hand, you say it costs ?400, so I'm guessing that you're going for it on a pay-as-you go basis. In that case I'd say that it's not worth it - seeing as you only get free internet after a year or topping up regularly - and that makes any web-app/internet usage (which I would say is the core appeal of the iPhone) very expensive.

I love my iPhone, its quite simply the ultimate gadget. Very cheap too, I was lucky to get hold of one for ?169 in May and just stuck in my O2 Pay and Go SIM. No unlocking or jealbeaking needed.

I have had people try to tell me the Google G1 or HTC Something or other is better but I don't buy any of that nonesense. iPhone FTW!

EDIT: I'm guessing you would be going down the 3G iPhone route, and unless you get one of eBay or sign up to a contract its going to be ?349. I think they can be unlocked using a "turbosim" (?) but not 100% on that.

yeah turbosim which is like 20 something quid of ebay, however some website offers a program and members scheme so when a new firmware comes out you hook it up and it updates it and shiz automatically. I wanted to know if apps will work on it though.

dude, get the iphone. the ipod touch sucks. you can't phone people with it!!!!!!!!! :pinch:

Because it's not a phoooooone!

My advice? Wait.

You have a Nokia N95 for christ sake! Use that for music and phone and save up for the iPhone. Then when you are free to get a new contract buy an iPhone + tariff from O2.

This is my plan, but I'm in a contract until April :p

FYI, I've owned an iPod Touch and it just doesn't suffice imo. I's great, yeah, the hype just goes after a while. I'm looking forward to being able to use the internet ANYWHERE on an iPhone.

If you want a new gadget, I'd definitely recommend the iPhone. It's the best and coolest gadget I've ever owned. A mini computer in your pocket. I jailbroke mine, and ever since it's only become more valuable. I use it almost as much as my desktop computer, it's brilliant. :D

Sure there are some bugs and little annoyances, but they can't compete with the good sides. Besides, Apple is constantly updating firmwares, so it's only getting better and more complete.

Yes! Definitely.

You can actually still do everything once it's jailbroken. You don't lose any features or privileges, you just gain a lot. That's the beauty of it. :D

Besides, you're not voiding the warranty, because if you don't want your jailbreak anymore, you'll just restore the original firmware through iTunes.

    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets another hotfix for one of the game's online modes by Taras Buria Recently, Forza Horizon 6 players discovered an interesting glitch that allowed farming a crazy amount of in-game credits in a few minutes. Playground Games quickly pulled the plug on the exploit by disabling one of the game's online modes, and today, the studio is rolling out another hotfix. In my review, I complained about the game still showering gamers with cars, credits, and wheelspins. As such, earning money in Forza Horizon 6 is not a particularly difficult task. You simply have to play the game, crazy, I know. However, people still found an easier path to becoming a billionaire in Forza Horizon 6. All you had to do was purchase the Hummer EV, install a specific tune, shift in reverse while going at about 15 MPH, hit a wall, and get launched into the stratosphere at the speed of light. While mid-air, launch Eliminator and quickly get eliminated. Boom, the game just awarded you with a few million in-game credits. Initially, Playground Games disabled Eliminator to prevent people from farming credits. Now, following the release of the first balancing update, developers are rolling out a new update that re-enables Eliminator and gives users a free McLaren Sabre as a gesture of goodwill. Here is the changelog: One critical issue remains unpatched, though. There are quite a few reports of the game wiping gamers' saves, and developers are still looking into that. To avoid potential data loss, Playground Games recommends taking one of the steps outlined in a previously published support article.
