Gun "Enthusiast" Makes Real Gears Lancer

Recommended Posts

People with too much free time on their hands equals...

(didnt think this should go into the [Official] Gears topic)

The Gears of War Lancer replica is certainly cool to pose with and the Nerf version is definitely... cute. But neither packs the actual killing power of the real-life version with working chainsaw attachment.

A few enterprising gun enthusiasts have gone the extra mile for their bayonets, strapping on 14 inches of chainsaw for proper eviscerating. They call it the "Firearm Mounted Anti Zombie Device" but we know it better as the standard issue Lancer from Epic Games' third-person shooter.

Yes, it works, as proven by the video of the thing in pumpkin-slaying action.

Here is just one of a half-dozen videos of these things laying waste to squashes and tree limbs. We'd definitely recommend not trying any of this at home, especially if you don't have the health regenerative powers or biceps the thickness of Marcus Fenix's.

Wow. :woot: I want one.

Chainsaw isn't as powerful as I'd like it to be, but it'll still do the job on those stubborn tree limbs in the yard.

Heh. I can see it now: Ultimate Deer Hunting

"Oh, you didn't die when I shot you, huh?..." :p

I've been to WI (Janesville)...I'm sure that would work real well for hunting up there!

There's another video on YouTube where the guy is showing a close up of the saw part of the gun and the pumpkin guts on it. At around 20-24 secs, you can hear the unmistakeable sound of someone in the background cracking open a canned beverage.

I was going to say "aesthetics > performance?" but then I looked at it again and noticed it looks lame and nothing like the lancer.

So... pointless.

That's what I thought when I saw them too. If I were to slap a Lamborghini logo on my Mitsubishi, it wouldn't become a Lamborghini no matter how hard I wished. :p

Remind me to never invite them to the house for dinner, they might offer to cut the Roast Chicken and I like my kitchen table to be in one piece if you don't mind.

Scirwode

Poor attempt at making a Lancer, IMO. Doesn't look enough like one to be called a "Real Gears Lancer".

Agreed. I came in here expecting a frickin' Lancer, and instead I get this poor hack job.

    • I just wish they would put more love into Virtual Desktops. There is just so much more they could do.
    • Sounds like you just skimmed over the review, I answer all those questions in it. Although I admit I did not test if DTS works over the headphones, when I get some time I will test this. My personal use case is more speaker-driven (I cover this in the review too).
    • It actually does the same exact thing as yours, 7.1 virtual surround over headphones. From the product page: "Experience sound that surrounds you with 7.1 virtual surround, delivering a wider, more immersive soundstage for movies, games, and music." So both of them are two channel, with 7.1 virtual surround that only work in Headphones mode.
