So I am selling some stuff on eBay (COD4, Splinter Cell: DA, XLBA Compilation Disc and 3 x Professor Layton and Curious Village for NDS - if anyone's interested.

And I was originally going to purchase Gears of War 2, dead set on it, but now I have read the official thread and all the talk of the huuuuge waiting times to get into matches is putting me right off. So looking onlien COD: WaW seems very popular too, I never played COD 4 online too much and only played WaW Beta a handful of times.]

When I did play WaW beta I wasn't that great, my freind said i was playing too much like Halo, then again i was never that great at Gears multiplayer anyway.

Anyway, which do you think is the better game since I am only going to be getting one for now.

Thanks,

Richard.

World at War hands down, Gears of War 2 is having major online problems and will just frustrate the hell out of you in the end.

Plus, some will argue World at War is just a Copy & Paste job, then I argue Gears of War 2 is exactly the same, just worse.

I voted for Gears 2. I was in the WaW MP Beta, and was not impressed with it at all. Honestly, I think CoD4 is a better game than both Gears 2 and WaW lol. I'll be anxiously awaiting CoD6 (Infinity Ward's next CoD game).

I'd say Gears 2. COD is good but not that much different to other games (although still good), Gears is mind blowing IMO, albeit a little too easy. I've clocked both and much preferred Gears 2, as it felt more fun and exciting all the way through. Some sections of it are unforgettable. COD is good but not that memorable, not like COD4 was (although technically WAW is better than COD4 - especially the co-op, I just didn't find single player as much fun).

This is just my opinion though, everyone is different, and both games are excellent.

CoD WAW, but that's just because I don't like the Gears 2 competitive online that much. I'm not the best at shooters, but I prefer FPS to 3rd person when online.

Horde mode is fun though if you got some buddies, but doesn't have the depth of regular online.

For me from playing the WaW Beta the little bit I did it seemed very very different to Halo in that it felt a lot more rigid, more realistic really I suppose. Now i reckon Gears 2 :s But only if i can find it uuuuuuber cheap because I don't want to pay for a crappy online system which despite being 'patched' isn't fixed.

Gears of War 2, hands down, no question, period.

The matchmaking issues have almost entirely been resolved for me (still takes 2 minutes to get a match, though). Single player and co-op is amazing. Horde is amazing. All the modes are amazing.

Call of Duty, meanwhile, is short, the online component is weak in my opinion, and it's just a cheap cash-in on COD4.

I have not played the retail version of CoD:WaW but judging from the beta of it, I would definitely recommend Gears 2. I think that WaW is too similar to CoD4 for my liking. Gears has some problems with multiplayer wait times but they have been getting better in my opinion.

What on line problems I had Gears 2, 12oclock the morning it came out and it was fine for me. And as for a C&P game, thats totally wrong, if you mean controls and certain weapons no.2's always do it for example Halo, in fact I think gears has changed a lot just because of the content and the interact ability of the game.

World at War is basically a re done version of cod 3 with a special zombie thing cause they thought it would be cool!#

Either way I will have both but I don't think one of the best games of the year should be slagged off like this when so many people work hard to make these games for us to enjoy.

Campaign wise: Gears

Multiplayer wise: COD

I find that gears doesn't have much replay value, i found it very boring trying to do the campaign again. I also think that multiplayer isn't as good for gears.

Couldn't disagree more with that statement. I feel there isn't a game currently released on any current gen console that has the replayability of Gears. There are plenty of maps (make sure to download the old ones), there are TONS of modes, there's co-op, there's horde... and Call of Duty really only has one mode, and the campaign is weak (as is the co-op) in my book.

GOW2 is having a problem on multiplayer but its being fixed. Recently like earlier todayi connected to an elimination match much faster then before.

Also, you always have Horde Mode. No one has trouble with that.

Also, even better, the Campaign is unique. COD WAW is WW2 again.

Althou I do have to admit, my co workers made me talk WAW home for the 360 to play with them, and as much as i despise the fact its another WW2 remake. I have ALWAYS enjoyed COD Multiplayer so WAW multiplayer stood against all the other MP's. Just the fact that its another WW2 and the campaign is short its not my game.

I Myself am waiting for COD6, the next COD Game made correctly by Infinity Ward.

Go for GOW2! Hours of fun in hardcore and Insane mode.

My pick would be Gears 2. It has a way better campaign, and Horde is so much fun if you have some friends to play with. Cheating is rather rampant in open multiplayer already, and the amount of underage kids playing this game ruins the experience IMO. But, overall I think it's a better package.

    • Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe PC gamers have two more games they can add to their library without needing to open their wallets, as the Epic Games Store's freebie offer has just refreshed. That means last week's Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King offer has been replaced by two new games, which happen to be Robobeat and Citizen Sleeper copies. From the duo, Robobeat lands from developer Simon Fredholm, offering a rhythm-based action game. Released only last year, the title puts you into the shoes of Ace, a bounty hunter that's targeting the robot showman Frazzer. The fast-paced title offers movement techniques like wall-running, sliding, and bunny hopping to zoom around while shooting enemies, but the requirement is doing everything to the beat. Outside of built-in tracks, the title also lets players upload their own music to populate its levels too. Next, Citizen Sleeper lands from Jump Over The Age, a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station where thousands of people are trying to survive. The tabletop RPG-inspired title uses things like dice and clocks to change how the player approaches situations and survives their day-to-day lives. There is a large range of characters to meet with in the station, each with their own storylines and alliances. "You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back," says the developer about the setting. "Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle." The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways are set to run until June 25 on the Epic Games Store, giving PC gamers seven days to claim the latest offer. Once this closes out, new freebies will take its place on the same day. They are supposed to be copies of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought. Don't forget that mobile gamers can check out the Epic Game Store's weekly giveaways on Android and iOS to grab a freebie there as well.

    • The Online part hasn't even been announced and probably won't be included on day one. This is a massive singleplayer game.
    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
